Eson nasal mask noise

Post by Catpap » Mon Mar 16, 2015 3:22 pm

Hey all

Although I love my Eson nasal mask compared to my F&P full face I have recently been really bothered by noise from the vent port on the mask.

I have the diffuser pad in place, and initially it was silent all the time, however now I seem to wake up and its making a really loud noise through the vent, sort of whistling?

I am beginning to think it may be due to moisture / rainout making the diffuser pad damp, and have just replaced my old pad for a new one, but that last pad was only in for 2 weeks! I thought they lasted longer?

Has anyone else had noise problems with the Eson - particually at higher pressures since my average pressure is 14, but gets as high as 20 some night.

Thanks

I use the Oracle 452 mask which has a similar swivel and diffuser to the Eson.
I change out the diffuser every 30 days.

If you are having rainout issues, then getting the diffuser wet as well as getting the swivel joint at the bottom wet could cause noises in the mask at higher pressures. Mine makes burbling sounds under those circumstances (pressures above 20 cm H2O and moisture in the diffuser swivel.

Its easy to check. When the mask is making the noise, pop open the diffuser lid and see if it is wet.
On my mask, the diffuser is optional and the mask can be used without it. I suspect the Eson is the same in that regard.

Mine would make a super high pitch sound if it started leaking around the bridge of my nose.
The first time it happened it was so loud and shrill I thought it was the carbon monoxide detector going off.

I have not heard this kind of shrill noise from any other mask.

I took the diffuser off mine. I went to buy filters and the DME told me i didn't need the diffuser. It is noisier but nice to not have to worry about filters.

Glad you posted this thread! I’ve been using an Eson for more than a year, and just noticed over the last week or so that I’m waking up after about 4 or 5 hours with that whistling noise you mentioned. Very loud (for me—my wife doesn’t hear it!), and it took me a while to figure out that it was the diffuser. I can make it go away (stop) by covering the vent port, but covering it is difficult and awkward. I’m trying to come up with a more effective solution. I haven’t tried removing the pad yet—thanks for the suggestion!
Since this thread is a little old, I’m wondering if anyone has any new thoughts/suggestions?
Today I noticed (surprisingly) that, once I covered the port and got back to sleep, the noise was gone when I woke up in the morning!? Puzzling, since, if it was moisture, I don’t know why it eventually “fixed itself”?
Thanks to all!

After 5 years I finally figured out it’s too high a humidity setting. Moisture in the tube and mask cause it. When I turn down the setting to 2 instead of 4 and hung the tube all day and wiped out the mask it was completely silent.

It’s probably thr humidity level is too high. Turn it down, wipe out the misuse inside the mask and hang the tube to dry.
