OT How precious and fragile it all is.

Post by carbonman » Sun Mar 01, 2015 6:48 pm

As I was looking out the window on my back yard,
locked in that cold, tight grip of winter.....
feeling the pain of loss.....
everything looked so bleak.
Cold, cloudy day. Snow threatening.
I decided to go out and look closer.

Nothing lasts forever. Everything renews.
The pain of loss will be tempered with respect and honor of the memories.
As sure as the sun will melt the ice and release the buds,
apples will hang where the ice does today.

We are but a snowflake in the passing parade of life. It's funny how winter has this effect on a lot of folks. I look at my grandkids growing up, and me just growing old. I am getting better at this age thing. I no longer view my life like a shopping cart on a spree, trying to fill it up as fast as I can. More of a collector, now, using more discretion in what I choose, realizing most of my grand adventures have already occurred, or will not. That's ok, though, cause I don't seem to care about sorting it all out, and quantifying it as much as I used to. Best regards!

I can't resist looking closely when Nature beckons.
It's an old habit from when no one realized how dreadfully nearsighted I was.
My secret garden is tiny, and lies in little surprises here and there.
Under a leaf, in a crack, behind a pebble--magic resides in small things.
I've never seen a fairy, but I know they just might exist.

I am not ready to give up on grand adventure, yet.
...yes, there are some that will not be realized.
....but, there are plenty left to be.

Never give up on grand adventure.
..........or is it that adventure is what we make of it, at the time.
For me, even a bike ride on a route that has been ridden many times....
is a grand adventure.

Excellent! In the small, hidden....right out in the open spaces is where they will be.
I will start looking closer.
