using either machine ok

Post by sunnyorm@hotmail.com » Sun Mar 01, 2015 1:19 am

Hello,

i have been using a bipap machine since 2009. 2 weeks ago i did another sleep study (insurance requirement), 2 days ago my Dr. notified me that my sleep apnea has improved, and i now only require a cpap machine. now, i'm left with 2 bipap machines, can i still use the bipap machines with my new diagnosis?

Thanks

most bipaps can be put in cpap mode. but without knowing what machines you have, nobody can say for certain.

I would not hesitate to use a BiPAP even though my prescription is for a CPAP. I believe BiPAPs generally support higher pressures than CPAPs.

My doc ordered a bipap for me when my chest was hurting and the EPR setting was maxed out. It worked... but I prefer the cpap mode over the autoset and I don't need all those exhale settings (when I'm feeling good). So... I use the cpap mode 99% of the time.

If it was me I would set it in auto mode and lower the epap. See what the machine thinks you need

Welcome. Post what model machines you have.

There's a good chance that you will greatly benefit from the more recent models of CPAP machine, so you might want to see if insurance will pay for a normal CPAP.

If you have trouble figuring out which machine model you have, just tell us EVERYTHING it says on the top of the machine.
