Canadians- Heads Up! I Just Saved $$$ NOT Buying In Canada!

Post by Player » Fri Feb 27, 2015 1:46 am

So this is what I would pay in Canada VS cpap.com out of the USA:
$270 CAD- Wisp Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear $109 USD
$230 CAD- Pilairo Q Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgears $78 USD
$200 CAD- GoLife For Men Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear $35 USD (sale price)
$50 CAD- Filters 6 Pack $11.95 USD
$100 CAD- Heated Hose $40 USD
$20 CAD- CPAP Tube Brush Second Gen - 19mm $9.57 USD (sale price)

$870 Canadian VS $283 USD =$353.77 CAD x 3% (credit card currency fee) = $364 CAD = savings of $505 CAD

I used http://www.reship.com. https://www.cpap.com shipped there free.
http://www.reship.com charged $5 USD to sign up, and $5 USD to Ship.
The Shipping was $10 USD plus $35 USD plus $6 USD insurance = $51 USD x 3% = $52.53 USD = $66 CAD total shipping.

I would still incur some shipping charges from Canada, so I estimate the

Total savings at $465 CAD.

On top of that, the local hospital owned "for profit" clinic wanted me to pay out of pocket $1335 CAD for a A10 Elite
after they get the $675 govt subsidy. What they don't tell you is the govt sets the price to me at $215.
This is a difference of $1120 they wanted out of my pocket. They make it a "package", that includes 1 filter
change per year, and one card reading per year.

A savings of $1120 CAD

Total savings to me by not buying the BS they were trying to sell me:

$1585.00 CAD

So the cost to me to get a Resmed A10 Elite, the heated hose, the full face from the govt, 2 pillow masks, one nasal mask,
6 filters, hose brush is $215 plus $364 = $589 CAD

I have been wondering about the reship site and hoping someone here would try it.

Nice to know it works well.

I hope others report success and big savings with that reship site. It'll be interesting to hear the stories from our good neighbors to the north.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Good on ya for not rolling over and playing dead when the Canadian DME highway robbers get a hold of ya.

For what it's worth, you can find competitive prices on most cpap supplies (including masks) from sites within Canada. So while you have saved big bucks over what you would have paid to your local DME, you also could have bought those same items within Canada for less than the Canadian prices that you quoted. Given the not-insignificant shipping costs that you paid, you might even have found the masks and supplies for LESS than what you paid cpap.com.

For example, Clinicalsleep.com in Vancouver usually has competitive prices on masks and they ship free. This is a good way to buy Resmed and Philips-Respironics masks which cpap.com cannot ship across the border. There may be other Canadian online suppliers that have competitive pricing.

The downside of these Canadian online suppliers is that they don't carry the broad range of supplies and accessories found on cpap.com. Also, they all seem to charge ultra-premium prices for xpap machines.

Now if only we could find a Canadian source for competitively priced xpaps!
I'm workin' on it.

http://www.clinicalsleep.com doesn't have any prices listed.

How am I expected to shop in a store that won't tell you how much things cost? Especially with
all the shenanigans I have experienced in my short time in the cpap world.

Any website that will not freely display prices is not interested in sales.
What then? I just kill the tab; it's their problem, not mine.

Clinical sleep is my DME in vancouver and although their prices for online shoppers are good they will charge what insurance will pay for walk in clients. It is the best of the DMEs in the city though.

You do have a telephone, don't you?

I too like to just shop and order online. However, if money can be saved by using old technology then I will make a call.
I'm workin' on it.

Nobody in Canada will come close to cpap.com even with the exchange and shipping.

You just have to create an account on clinical sleep site for the prices to show.

Cpap.com is still cheaper but some things cannot be shipped to Canada. For some items it is worth it to me to have things shipped to my American sister and have her ship to me but my insurer won't cover things not bought in Canada.

It is not allowed to by the manufactures. You have to sign up and log in the get the prices.

That is just not true. There are sites from Canada that DO show pricing. Plus all the ones from the USA...

Yes and that is the walk in list price. They are not allowed to show any other price.
