Newbie - Getting better with help from this forum.

Post by FrayedTrain » Thu Feb 26, 2015 3:47 pm

Thanks to some help, my 3rd night last night was better.
If I can continue to sleep like that in the next week or so, I would be ok with that. While it wasn't perfect, it shows that with some perseverance and some help with settings from the 'experts' on this forum "things will get better."

I bumped my min pressure from 5 to 7 and EPR from 1 to 3. I felt the difference with the EPR, that made me comfortable and not so anxious. At first, I thought 7 was crazy but it didn't take long for me to accept that pressure. I did wake up sometimes when the pressure went up to 10+. Sometimes I was a little concerned and others I felt that it was Ok and went back to sleep.

I don't want to tell any other newbies that this is easy, but it's not impossible. Be active in your health care, and don't give up.

It will get easier...I promise.
There was some significant leaks going on last night but which might have been mask movement and/or mouth opening but for now just concentrate on getting used to the machine and the pressure.

I knew you would think I was nuts suggesting 7 cm but I was 99.9% sure that if you tried it that it would work better with EPR of 3 than the previous 5 with EPR 1 setting. I know it seems counter productive but that difference is actually easier and feels more natural than EPR of 1 feels. With some time and experience that 7 won't seem nearly so scarey.
