New an very unsure!

Post by lowe160 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 1:22 pm

Hi

I am new here and after three tries and reading the football thread think I got it. Downloaded SH twice before and messed my puter and had to uninstall and reset. Now lets hope the picture works. Computer illiterate and tooo old and stupid to learn.

Well you did a good job getting Sleepyhead going and posting your first screen shot.
The helpful graphs are usually daily page (which you have), event flags (which you have), flow, pressure, leaks, snores and flow limitations.
You can resize and drag as needed each of the graphs to get them into the screen.
The pie graph on the left really isn't needed so you can go into file, preferences, appearance, and remove check mark on show event breakdown pie chart.
Others might give you more tips. After they get a little more information.

I can't really see enough to make a final determination, but I would start by changing pressure from 6-11 to 8-15.

Very good.

Scroll up and show us the flow rate and pressure graphs. Leak rate would be good if you can get that on there, too. You can move mask pressure down if need be.

It's useful to zoom in on the flow rate graphs at the point where you're having events and you can see some info on how long and severe the events are.

You can click on the events tab on the left above the AHI number. You can then break out the types of events and click on an event to zoom in on the time the event happened. There will be a number next to each event that is "sort of" the number of seconds the event lasts.

Thank you, now I am totally confused! lol I am a little but very slow on the computer but will try some of the things mentioned and see what happens. We just got home after driving four hours in a snow storm (again) and am a little tired. Staring to hate winter.

Thank you, I have a lot to learn; Wayne

I found many years ago that if I moved from Chicago to San Diego, I didn't hate winter nearly as much.

As for the computer, get a good nights sleep and tackle it in the morning.

Ok, here we go again, darn there is a lot to absorb when you are learning.

Had a bad night last night as I usually don' have this much mask leak. Wife said it was leaking, wish she would have woke me so I could have fixed. I might have to put a new pillow on but will try it tonight. Thinking about ordering a P10 as there is so many positive reviews?
Before I get in over my head I am going to familiarize myself with the machine and read the manual. Boy did that DME have me fooled!

Thanks for the help.

It would really help if you would post graphs with relevant information:
1. Events
2. Flow Rate
3. Pressure
4. Leak Rate
5. flow limitation (optional)
6. Snore (optional)

The graphs can be arranged by dragging, holding the left margin near the labels. Be sure to size the graphs vertically so the scale is meaningful and not too compressed. The information on the left side is useful because it gives prescription and pressure statistics as well as an event summary. In Sleepyhead "F12" will take the screenshot.

You are getting there. You can turn back on the Daily Side Bar on the left it has helpful information. Look at the order of graphs that Sleeprider has listed. Take your mouse and left click and hold to move the graphs to put them in that order.
It does look like you can use some pressure adjustments but we need a little better look.

See this thread for examples of what we like to see on the screen shots.
viewtopic/t103468/Need-help-with-screen-shots.html
Turn off the mask pressure and just leave the regular pressure line as they are redundant and then you can move leak up into viewing area with just a little bit of resizing.

Also please include the information on the left side of the daily detailed graphs...turn off the pie chart (you can do that in preferences) and hide the calendar so that the statistics on the left side can easily be seen.

It looks like your minimum pressure might be a little too low.

Ok, I upped my min and max pressures by +1, so I am at 7 and 12. I will try that for a couple of days. If I go slow at this I think I wll figure it out. Wife says I lack patience.
They are not helping me whatsoever at the dme. I have been acting stupid and I give them the card and they say I am doing fine, yeah right! I might have a few words for them at my six month appt. I am also thinking of getting the P10 to try. I can order the kit plus the pillow and don't have to go get another prescription but if I order it as a package I do, crazy world.

Do you ever sleep on your back? Especially start the night out on your back?
Looks like the 7 cm minimum isn't sufficient when using EPR of 2. If you need or wish to continue using EPR of 2 then you will likely need more minimum. Or you might try reducing EPR or turning if off if that is comfortable for you.

I have been trying to go to sleep on my back lately and have been. I usually wake up on my side sometimes as I have always been a side sleeper, but will continue to try. I don't understand what the EPR is and how it works? I can and will raise the min. up to 8 tonight and see if that helps. Every so often I will sleep with mouth open (dry mouth) but that is slowly going away. I also noticed on my report that they originally had my machine set at 5 and 20.

Will go now and try to wrap my head around this EPR thing, I am old and slow!
