Re: self oximetry testing - new retail product from Virtuox
There are a number of wrist oximeters on the internet and they ALL look similar and come from different Chinese companies. The intent of my original post was to let people know that there is something available from a reputable, Joint Commission accredited US Company, that might be of help if they w...

Thanks for letting me know. By the way, the dictionary defines poor form as "an offense against current social conventions", i.e., an action akin to bad manners.

I also Googled Aliexpress. They are part of Alibaba, which is a Chinese site notorious for product knock-offs. See CNBC article link below. Here's a quote from the article: "Even with Alibaba Group's escalating efforts, some NetNames Global clients still estimate that as much as 80 percent of the Ta...

Re: self oximetry testing - new retail product from Virtuox
I did Google CMS501 and 501W. It's a different company called Contec and they are in China. Maybe the Vituox Apnea Watch is made in China as well, but they do have a 12 month warranty and since DME companies use their products, I plan to stick with them. Do you have any experience with this Chinese ...

Re: Pissed off scared and depressed
There are other options out there. I could not tolerate CPAP because of issues with glaucoma. I've been fitted for a dental appliance, which is covered by Medicare. If you can't tolerate the CPAP and it's documented by your physician, the physician can then write a referral to a sleep dentist. I'm n...

self oximetry testing - new retail product from Virtuox
Virtuox makes a wrist band oximeter that my local DME uses. It requires a doctor's prescription, delivery and return to the DME. The DME then sends in the info to the Virtuox lab for a report. It's a time consuming process. I just discovered today that Virtuox now has a new wrist oximeter (called th...

Re: Medicare Payment of Oral Appliance & CPAP
Thanks for all the responses regarding CPAP and IOP pressure increase. This is a long post, but the issue is a complex one. There are several studies regarding CPAP and increase in intraocular eye pressure in glaucoma patients including: "Correlation of CPAP, Bi-PAP, and Auto Pap Use with IOP in pat...

Re: Medicare Payment of Oral Appliance & CPAP
I've tried the CPAP over the past month and lowered the exhale pressure because I have a competing issue -- normal tension glaucoma. Studies have shown that CPAP can raise eye pressue (not good if you have glaucoma). There's not enough information out there as to why. I've speculated that it may be ...

Medicare Payment of Oral Appliance & CPAP
I've tried CPAP. My sleep physician has recommended that I now try an oral appliance. I've been fitted for a TAP III Elite by a sleep orthodontist and expect to have the appliance shortly. Does anyone know if it's possible to go back to CPAP with Medicare coverage if the oral appliance is not tolera...
