Tonight is 1st night for my hubby and on to 2nd night

He finally got his machine today. It is a PR REMstar Auto A-Flex. They set it for 5-20 with flex on 3. I've got some learning to do again to be able to help him so I will probably be back with questions.

They gave him a new nasal mask by PR called Pico. Has anyone else tried it yet? What did you think?

Hubby's equipment: PR System One REMstar Auto A-Flex model 560P. Doctor's orders left it open 5-20. We changed it to 8-20 after a couple nights. Start Date was 1/30/15. Oh, mask is the new nasal pico.

check his data tomorrow and up the bottom pressure to something closer to where the machine hovers tonight
wide open is fine for the *first* night... but no doctor ever thinks to adjust it.

I already had that in mind. The DME guy even said that he didn't need to send the doc any data. What? He got his machine and that is that. We were basically told that the doc might be retiring soon so we will be on our own - WAIT - No we won't. We have all you guys here! Thanks in advance!

First I have heard about it and had to go searching for it. Must be really new as it so far is offered at only a few places.
Looks like it is going to be really pricey..this was the cheapest I saw.

I won't be trying it..doesn't interest me at all. I would hate both the both strap and where it rests along with that forehead thingy.

Yeah but, look how great it makes the model look! That woman next to him loves that mask! Every guy wants to be "that guy".

I saw that picture and had a good laugh. The guys will want the mask if the girl comes with it. She looks to be like she may have been photo shopped into the picture.

You know I just now looked closer at that mask....I would also hate the mouth thingy too. That would bug the crap out of me.
Remember...I am a "less on the face" gal.
The lower strap would kill my neck as that's why I don't do any mask that has a lower strap like that.

Looks to me like they are both trying not to laugh. He doesn't look like he is a real patient. I wonder if the hose is even connected?

there definitely seems to be a "snap the picture quick before I bust out laughing" look on the mask models face.

Here is his 2nd night chart. He had no problem with starting the pressure at 8. He didn't even use the ramp last night. He was able to stay on it for almost 6 hrs and felt better than the first night. He still has a lot of activity going on. His machine is so quiet that I can't hear him over my ASV but I woke up before him for a change and listened around 6:50 until he woke up. He was opening his mouth some this morning so tonight I will have him use a head band chin strap like I use. What do you advise further to get his AHI down?

His AHI was 7.32 and Clear airway was 4.09...ignore that and that leaves the AHI is 3.23 which is OA and hyponea and what we actually treat with pressure.

Unsure if the centrals are related to pressure or simply related to SWJ or post arousal or just getting used to the machine at this point. I would just keep one eye on them...
I am on the fence as to whether just leave things at 8 cm minimum for a little while or trying 9 cm minimum....I think I would likely try 9 minimum and then stay there for a few nights. At some point we have to listen to the "give it time" thing....
Especially since this is just his second night. Heck I don't know that I slept 3 hours on my second night with my machine when I first started. I know I had a lot of little awakenings when I first started therapy just to wake up and feel the mask on my face.
