Best Nasal Mask

Post by SMenasco » Fri Jan 30, 2015 4:33 pm

I've been using nasal pillows for years and have been thinking about trying a nasal mask. Any advice from users as to which models fit good, seal up better than most and are "less leaky"? Thanks a lot.

Look at the Swift FX Nano cushion mask.
I actually did well with it and for me that is saying something.
If you happen to already have the Swift FX nasal pillow headgear you can put the Nano cushion on it and it will work just fine (even though ResMed says it won't fit)...I did it to see if it would work and actually used the Nano with various configurations of headgear (even the Bella Loops) for over a week with good success.
A word of warning though...initially the air swirling around the nose inside the cushion feels a bit weird and sort of like leaks...but it isn't leaking...just feels that way because those of us who have never used a mask that goes over the nose simply aren't use to the air blowing around the nose in general.

The Wisp is decent but you know me...I like less headgear and for some reason the weight of the Wisp cushion on my nose caused congestion (and I don't understand it because it is NOT a heavy mask) and I was only able to use the Wisp for 90 minutes.

I didn't try the newer ResMed AirFit N10 when it came out and I haven't seen it...so I can't comment on it. I just wasn't interested in it enough to spend money on it. Maybe at my next mask allowance with my DME I can get it and see how it does....they let me swap things if I hate it so I won't waste my insurance co pay and mask allotment on something I won't use.

I love the Eson. I sleep on my side and I find that it never leaks, even when I mash my face into the pillow. It is not necessary to overly tighten the straps and I never have red marks on my face. I have several masks and find the Eson to be the most comfortable.

I took Minky's advice and bought an Eson nasal mask. I have been using a Mirage Swift II nasal pillow system for about ten years. I have a pinched nerve in my neck and must sleep on three pillows. The Swift II was not aligning right and would wake me up leaking several times a night. Last night was my first night with the Eson. It is just great! No leaks, very comfortable.

Sounds like a winner. I really liked it as well. It sealed and fit for me better than others I tried. It's really the only one that I didn't mess with during the night. It's easy to recommend. I also was quite impressed with the Wisp, but it is really hit or miss with the sizing as it's so close fitted to the nose.

I also like Pugsy's idea to keep the Nano on your radar as you can work in a try of the FX pillows too. In fact, if you haven't tried any of the newer pillows, you might give one a shot. The P10 is really something else. I think everyone with nasal capability should try it just for the experience even if they ultimately don't choose it. Hope the Eson keeps working.

Best,

Mike
