Full face masks alternatives

Post by Stevoreno_55 » Wed Jan 28, 2015 12:31 am

I've been on a ResMed AirCurve 10 S BiLevel machine since December 2014 and I've also been using a ResMed Quattro Air FF mask since that time. I switched to a FF mask because of mouth breathing issues. I saw my sleep doctor for a follow-up visit yesterday; I was glad to hear that I will not have to be put on O2. I did mention to the doctor that I was having some issues with the FF mask working itself loose during the night when my mouth opens during the night.

He mentioned I might have to start using a chin strap again and that he would contact my DME's RT about using a different kind of FF mask; a FF mask that has a piece that will come under my chin. I was looking at the FF masks on CPAP.com; does anyone know of a good FF mask that includes a part made to include a piece at the bottom that could be installed under my chin or should I go back to using a chin strap? Any good chin straps that are strong but comfortable at the same time? I'm not looking forward to the idea of having to start using a chin strap again which is why I agreed to switch from a nasal to a FF mask last year.

I use the F&P Flexfit 432 which also has a similar feature. It has an extra insert for better leak control as well.

Why not first try a mask liner before you start changing masks. Go to padacheek.com and look at the one designed for your mask.

Thanks for that link. Is your mask as light weight as the ResMed Quattro Air which I'm currently using? I do like that part of the mask except for the problems I'm having with it atm not wanting to stay sealed when I open my mouth during the night. Thanks again for your feedback.

the Swift FX is a great alternative
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

I use the Zzz-Mask Full Face mask. I like you have high pressures and worries of leaks.

The liners is also a good idea. There is a nice lady on this forum: Becky at RemZzzs who would probably send you a free samples of the liners they offer, just send her a private message. With the liners I was able to use the masks that I tried previously and not able to control the leaks.

I wish you well...

It is a bit larger than the Quattro Air (longer) but not weighty to me.

These liners which everyone has been talking about; can I go to their website to watch a demo on how they work? Since you state you also have a high pressure are you also having to wear a chin strap if you have mouth breathing issues like I do? Another problem I've having is some mornings waking up with a very dry mouth; I use Biotene mouth rinse before I go to bed at night; it seems to not be helping much. That question I guess I should post in another thread. So far I've been able to tolerate my new increased pressures of 22cmIPAP/18cmEPAP; the inside of my mouth hasn't been as fortunate. I have a dental appointment next month which I'm not looking forward to going to because my dentist might beat me up pretty good over my dry mouth problems. Thanks for the feedback.
