Have you ever done THIS in your sleep?

Post by Minky » Sun Jan 25, 2015 4:53 am

I've been on CPAP since early December. I've been very lucky, have adjusted well and found a mask that really works for me, the Eson. One night I took the mask off in my sleep and woke up to find it under my pillow (???), but it happened only once and I put it back on at 1:00am, so no big deal.

Last night I put on my mask, Smart Start got the machine running and I fell asleep quickly.

A few hours in I started to sleep fitfully and kept waking up and looking at the clock. At around 4:00 I felt like I wasn't getting enough air and pushed the button on my Airsense to see where the pressure was at. The machine was off. What the.....?

It took me a few minutes in my sleepy state to realize that I had disconnected the hose in my sleep (???) I could still breathe because I was breathing through the connection hole and probably also opened my mouth.

How did I manage that in my sleep????

And now I feel like crap and have a pounding morning headache. Jeez...

I'm fairly new to CPAP myself, but have found myself doing strange things with my mask and hose, like trying to take them apart or taking it all off in my sleep. I think we just need to give ourselves time to adjust to the mask and also to adjust the mask straps better. Keep trying.

I just woke up due to no power. Couldn't figure out what the beep beep was and I wasn't getting any air. UPS is on beeping, but the s9 is not on that circuit. No point in turning on the generator yet. I am awake now.

Way back when I started cpap 8yrs ago, I was plagued by having my hose disconnect from my mask, I wasn't taking it off, it was slipping off. Over and over again at night.

Seemed like nobody else was having that kind of problem, eventually I got a new hose and it never fell off then.

There was something wrong with the original hose that I got with the machine.

The new hose was actually hard to take off it was sick tight.

My Eson mask leaks when I roll over and the straps slip around. My hose came off one night too, I re-tell it as a comedy act for my friends, they laugh like hell when I start acting like an elephant that just discovered it has a trunk LMAO
