your help would be welcomed on a mask choice

Post by tozijab » Sun Jan 25, 2015 4:28 am

When ever I use my EasyLife Nasal CPAP mask during the night my results of AHI are in the range of 1,3 to 1.8 while when I use my Nuance Pro Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask which is mor comfortable the results of the AHI are in the range 3.6 to 5.5. With the change of the mask I change the mask resistance on the machine ( X1 or X2) as prescribed for the type of the mask. I can not understand the the reason of the difference.

if you wonder the the Nuance Pro seals perfectly. Leaks are almost null.

Unfortunately, I can't address the technicalities but my question to you is how do you feel when you use the Nuance Pro Nasal Mask? If you are just as functional with it as you are with the Easy Life, then personally I wouldn't worry about the AHI even though a 5.5 mark is just outside the acceptable <5 AHI treatment goal. But that is my perspective and I realize you may feel differently.

thank you for responding 49er,

Using both masks I sleep very well and in the morning as well as during the-next day i feel very well . Only the one which is more comfortable shows results of AHI above 5 which makes me nervous. With the EasyLife mask my average AHI for 30 days was 2.02 and for the last 6 months 2.34. While with the other for four nights the average was 4.96

I had a similar situation with my Nuance Pro. I concluded that in spite of the soft, comfortable fit, the seal
was not maintained during sleep. I enjoy much more consistent results with the P10.
