Emergency! No CPAP machine!
Emergency! No CPAP machine!
I just flew in to visit relatives and left my CPAP at home. My apnea is pretty severe and I really can't sleep
Without one.
I am having someone go to my home and send it to me. But I may be without it for a night or two. Are there any solutions any of you would recommend? I am in Dallas, and money is not really an issue. I can even buy a new machine. But it's evening and I am not sure what to do
Are there temporary or stop-gap things I can purchase at a drug store? Or locations thag have these machines available?
I've done a search and found no info so I apologize if I am breaking protocol or posting something folks have see before. Please point me in the right direction if so.
Thanks so much

Re: Emergency! No CPAP machine!
I have thought about this very scenario, as it could happen as easily as a power failure.
My plan (and this is not a recommendation, just what I would do) is to sleep upright in an easy chair or a high-backed sofa. Head kind of balanced, and lower jaw dropping w gravitational pull. Sort of like one might do as a napping arrangement in a 737.
I would also go for minimum sleep time, and only when everything was back online, a big swandive into xpappian dreamland.
. Good luck to you.

Re: Emergency! No CPAP machine!
I did the same thing in early October. First time without the machine in 6 years. It was an uncomfortable night, but I made it through and drove home 500 miles rather than spend another night off. Good luck. Hopefully a member in Dallas that has a spare machine and can help.
You might want to change thread title or start a new one with the city name in it.

Are you in Canada? If so, you can get a Snoreguard over the counter (e.g., at Shoppers or Rexall.) I use one when travelling instead of CPAP. It doesn't work as well as the machine, but it's better than nothing.
I don't believe it is available in the US (they require a prescription.)

Sleep in a recliner sitting up as much as possible.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

a backup doesn't do any good if he doesn't take it with him on a trip which is what he did.Tatooed Lady wrote:What about Craigslist? Get a backup.
