Do Events Per Hour Equal AHI?

Post by jaycee2 » Tue Dec 16, 2014 8:05 am

It seems that for quite awhile the events per hour equaled the AHI. For example, events per hour = 2.0, AHI = 2.0, Total AI = 1.8, Central = 1.5. But lately the two numbers haven't matched. Last night the events per hour = 2.2, AHI = 4.1, Total AI = 4.1 and Central = 3.4.

Was the matching just a coincidence or is there something wrong with the machine?

On the AirSense LCD screen???
One is last night's AHI and one is a 30 day average.
The one that is the AHI shown on same screen as the smiley face for mask seal is last night's AHI.
The AHI on the other screen where it shows average usage and used hours is a 30 day average (unless someone changes the 30 days to some other parameter) and this one shows pressure, leak, AHI, AI and Central index.
The fact that a single night's numbers matched the overall average numbers was just a coincidence.

Well I'll be darned. Yes, the Airsense LCD screen. I set it to one day after the one month at home titration was done. But we had a power outage a few days ago, very brief, just enough to get all the clocks in the house to blink. Apparently when the machine rebooted it set to 30 days. Your answer clued me in. One more step up the learning curve. Thanks Pugsy.

Well, I'll be darned...I wouldn't have thought that a power outage would have affected that data parameter if you had set it to 1 day from the default 30 day. Normally when we make changes to those settings in the clinical setup menu they will still hold after a power disruption. We are still in the learning how it works stage for the AirSense machines though.

Anyway...now you know what the deal is and can adjust accordingly.

Interesting about rebooting after a power outage... thanks for sharing. I'll keep that in mind with my Airsense10 AutoSet. Go Seahawks!!

Speaking of power, I also have the machine plugged into a surge protector. A thunderstorm fried a modem once and I don't want toe have anything like that happen to the Airsense. ITA, go Hawks!
