I need help finding out about home sleep study here in Denve

Post by denvermarilyn » Fri Dec 12, 2014 8:07 pm

Hi, I am new to all of this breathing problems. My primary doctor wants me to have my oxygen checked while I sleep at home. He found High blood counts in my last blood test. Apria was supposed to be the company to come out to my home and set op the oximeter thing. I looked up apria and discovered they have horrible scary complaints about billing and service. I have to have this test done, have medicare as well as supplimental ins. I just do not know another company my doctor cn order test done. Is there any one in denver area that deals with oxygen services in home, as well as a good company to deal with.
I have mild emphysema, but never had high red blood and white count before. I bought a oximeter pulse finger oximeter and wore it last night and alarm went off several times at 84 oxygen,
This is all so new to me. Any one in denver area who has had ggod results with a oxygen company, please advise me. Thank you for your time.

Click on the link in my signature, and enter your zip code.
Then you can choose what kind of provider you need. The green M are the ones to look for.
I gather you have original Medicare A and B, with a part B supplement, so that should work.
If you were unlucky enough to get a Medicare "advantage" plan, i cannot help you.

Hi chunkyfrog, I did not see where I can find a company that comes out and for me to have the needed oximeter test when i sleep at home for initial assessment. The Dr. prescribed me to Apria, but I do not want to do business with them. Is there a place to look up, maybe rate other companies somewhere? I am on medicare a and b also just started suppliment plan G with GMP.

You need to call each company listed, and ask if they do mobile service. (Just do it)
Many smaller outfits prefer this, as it reduces their site expenses.
The guys with the green M will accept medicare allowable as full payment.
Remember, you are not tied to ONE provider.
Oxygen providers are most likely to bring you an oximeter, but you can get machines and masks at another.
Never give Apria your credit card number--no matter what they say.

It does not make any difference what insurance company you have your supplement with as all companies must have the same coverage with each plan. The only thing a G plan does not cover is the Medicare Part B deductible each year for 2014 its $147 its the same for 2015. Meaning each year you will have to pay the deductible out of pocket before your supplement will pay anything. For your DME as you have been told make sure they will accept the Medicare assignment or you will be paying out of pocket. As far as will they come out and assist you, you have to call the DME and find out if they do that. Good luck!

if you are simply being tested for o2, you are not tied down to an oxygen company. A DME cannot be the testing facility for qualifying you for oxygen, the DME simply acts as a carrier for the testing facility and drops the pulse oximeter off to you, picks it up from you. The actual testing is done via a company such as Instant diagnostic systems. If you qualify for o2 therapy then you"ll have an oxygen company involved.
