XT Fit CPAP Machine mask noise

Post by davidr » Fri Dec 12, 2014 7:40 am

I just bought an XT Fit CPAP machine from cpap.com for traveling. The machine itself is very quiet, but the mask is very load when I'm using that machine. It makes kind of a whistling or buzzing sound, especially when I exhale. I normally use the ResMed Activa LT nasal mask. I also tried a full face mask and got the same kind of noises. When I hook the hose back to my normal machine, it sounds fine. But when hooked to the XT fit, it makes this noise and I can't sleep (and my wife can' sleep). Does anyone have any suggestions about how to reduce or eliminate the noise?

Would a different mask help?

It could be the lack of a humidifier to muffle the sound. My PRS1 560 has a bit of noise when run without a humidifier, not quite enough to keep me awake, but noticeable.
