Resmed auto S9 vs S10

Post by Logies101 » Wed Dec 10, 2014 7:28 pm

I met with my Dr today and will be picking out my machine in the morning. I told him after doing some research the Resmed auto S9 seemed like a good choice. He said there was a new model out, the S10. Does anyone have the S10 and is it an improvement on the S9, what is the difference between the two?

check out our hosts at cpap.com, they sell the airsense 10 and the s9. You can do a side by side comparison that way.

note, there's no such thing as a 's10' in the cpap world, there is an airsense 10. asking for the wrong thing could lead you to not getting what you want.

I have the new Resmed Airsence 10 Autoset. Going to use my Resmed S 9 as a back up or traveling machine. Why not get the newest machine out there? If I were you I would get the Airsence 10 Autoset. It has a lot of cool features that the S 9 does not have. It is quiet and to be honest it looks better on the nightstand! Takes up less room and it is way lighter to carry in the case.

Get the Airsense 10 Autoset for Her. The "for Her" model provides information about RERAs - the regular model doesn't. The "for Her" model can be run in exactly the same way as the regular model if you set it that way.

We've been calling it the "A10" for AirSense 10, but many people do say "S10."

Be sure to NOT get the base "AirSense 10 CPAP" model. You want at least the A10 "Elite" model. The AutoSet or AutoSet for her are even better. The data provided by the "good" models is much more than the A10 CPAP model.

A10 vs. S9 is roughly a tossup, because the S9 has such a good track record, but I'd probably give the A10 a slight preference now. Your DME might not actually even have S9 machines any more.

Also, there's no such thing as an "auto S9." There is S9 AutoSet and S9 Escape Auto. AVOID the Escape Auto (and S9 Escape) at all costs. If you say "S9 Auto," you may get screwed by the DME with an Escape Auto.

S9 escape is a brick. S9 escape auto has limited data. S9 everything else is good.

Which is exactly what the post above yours says
Current Settings PS 4.0 over 10.6-18.0 (cmH2O) - Resmed S9 VPAP Auto w/h5i Humidifier - Quattro Air FFM
TNET Sleep Resource Pages - CPAP Machine Database
Put your equip in your Signature - SleepyHead v1.0.0-beta-1

Take it back...take it back... it's a paper weight. It provides no data (except run hours). Tell the DME you need to track your therapy. If the DME says the Escape will... then they are flat-out lying. Get a Resmed S9 Autoset or a Airsense 10. You can run both machines in the autopap mode or straight cpap mode...which ever mode you want. The Escape is garbage and insist the DME should exchange it. Did I say take it back?

As was previously said......"TAKE IT BACK!!!" You want an S9 or A10 "AUTOSET" (or at least an "Elite")

The machine they gave you collects NO DATA. Just hours used. You want to be able to monitor your therapy and what they gave you won't get the job done. Assuming it was a DME that gave it to you is putting their profits over your health quality.
And, if they try to give you a bunch of crap about your insurance not paying for a better machine, that's a lie, too. Insurance providers pay by billing codes......and EVERY CPAP machine (basic to APAP) has the very same billing code......E0601.

There are at least 4 models of Airsense 10 (A10). The most capable models are A10 Autoset and A10 Autoset For Her. The "FOR HER" includes an additional auto setting and also reports RERAs. I have read various people reporting that they have both the standard A10 Autoset and FOR HER used in their families, and the newest stardard A10 Autoset also reports RERAs.

In the S9, an Autoset would be the most capable. You can research and compare different models on our host's web site, cpap.ccom.

Many of us here use A10 or S9 machines, so if you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask.

One little point that is not clear. When you have the ResMed 10 on it broadcasts your (personal private) information to who knows where using insecure technology.
There is no permanent way to shut this 'feature' off. Instead of a way for you to directly get this information one needs to contact the local service center where one is to hope there is adequate computer security to get one's own information.
Somehow I'm not so trusting that my information is being handled using high (or better) security techniques. If you put your machine in airplane mode you can temporarily shut this information flow off - - -- BUT the machine hates this function and complains about it at every turn on and off (a very bad case of nagging!!!!).

If you think I'm over paranoid about security I would suggest that research what the cheesy starlet that posted compromising photos of herself on her iphone account thinks of the hack that got those images sold out onto the web.
Do you want YOUR information out there that way - - - me - - - - no cotton pickin' way!! (yet I'm not allowed to choose - - - - and that's really not good!!)
