AirFit F10 FFM size small is too big -- any suggestions?

Post by cathyf » Wed Nov 19, 2014 1:27 pm

I've been using my cpap for about 6 weeks now, and I'm thinking that my mask is the right shape, but that it is too big. If I clamp it down so that it doesn't move, my cheekbones get really sore, and if I loosen it up so that it's comfortable, normal movement gives me leaks. Also, if I close my mouth the mask goes too far down on my chin and opens up major leaking and then if I push it up it leaks out the top and blows into my eyes. Hard to break the mouth-breathing habit if closing your mouth makes your mask leak!

I'm diagnosing this as "mask too big" -- is that what it sounds like to you more-experienced folks?

I see on cpap.com that the F10 only comes in small, medium and large, so no way to go down further in size from my small. BUT -- there is an F10 ForHer that comes in x-small, small and medium.

So what is the relationship between the two masks? Are the size small and size mediums of the two versions the same except for color, or is the ForHer smaller in every size? If I'm looking for a smaller version of what I have, is that the xsmall or the small or is the ForHer different in other ways and maybe I should try something else?

The only difference is that the for her has pink straps and accents. The cushions and frame are the exact same. So the for-her small is the same as the normal small and for-her medium is the same as the normal medium.
The F10 comes in two different frame sizes:
  • X-small and small
  • medium and large
Since you already have the small, all you really have to do is get an x-small cushion. It will fit in the small frame.

Ooo... That's awesome -- so all I really need is a new cushion (which I don't even have to justify to the insurance since they will do a new cushion every month without question.)

Yes that's my understanding.

You can confirm the information i've presented at the following: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -mask.html

There are also pediatric masks available. Some have cute animal on them (except I think those are only for nebulizers, not for CPAP.)

At the other end of the spectrum, I think the AirFit F10 LARGE mask is a tad too small and would like to see an XL added to the line-up. Go figure.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
