Sleeping with a freight train...

Post by Tatooed Lady » Thu Oct 30, 2014 5:10 pm

Yeah. The boyfriend snores like an Amtrak. He blames his yellow lab (she snores loudly enough to get startled looks from those who don't live with her). He's also sleep deprived. Partly due to his schedule being on call 24/7, owning his own business and being his only employee. Partly due to him sleeping very actively. Like I feel like I need protective gear when I'm at home on the weekends. He's also in denial. Deepest, darkest denial. I've suggested he try my machine when I'm home on the weekend, telling him he can take a nap (which he needs desperately anyhow) and see how things look after a couple hours. Nuh-uh, no how, no way. This is the same guy who waited til he went to the ER (I had to assist him in and out of his truck, and push him in a wheelchair) before he admitted he needed to see a chiropractor and/or massage therapist to get his back issues under control.
His parents are both on CPAP. They're also stubborn as hell. I have no misconception from where he gets it.

Any ideas on how to nudge him into at least giving therapy a shot? Heck, I'd be willing to buy him a machine if it turns out he needs one. (that offer is NOT transferrable, BTW).

Maybe a video+audio of him sleeping. Then get it reviewed by someone "official" enough to convince him this is real, and cut that in with the video & audio of him sawing down the forest (turn it up to 11 when you play it back). Just a thought

well, you could always buy yourself a back up machine (wink wink, nudge nudge) and a spare mask.

then look at him and say "wear this, or sleep in the other room".

it worked for me.... even earplugs and elbows weren't enough.

I have done the audio/video angle. DENIAL DENIAL not just a river in Egypt!
I dont want to tell him to sleep in the other room. He will. Then i may as well sleep in my truck and stay on the road. Hes terribly silly that way. Hence trying to sort out the stubbornness thing.
i also have spare hoses and headgear but if i get a backup unit it would be the same as what i now use. And if he wont even TRY it for a nap, i have other places that can use money thrown at them.

Gads. Hes such a silly bitch sometimes.

I don't have any ideas......clever or otherwise. You may have an insurmountable problem there. Sadly, he may die swimming in that river.

Good luck with whatever you try.

Last idea - does he have a will? If not get him a make your own will kit, give it to him and explain how you'd rather not have a big mess on your hands...maybe you could leave it on his pillow with a post-it note or something.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Sadly, I think the most likely scenario is me to nag nag nag til he TRIES it. Either he proves me right or he proves me wrong.

That or I find a mask for the dog to prove to him what a BABY he is. Anyone suggest a mask for a 90 pound Lab?
