Had my first followup appt today...

Post by TheBadger » Wed Oct 29, 2014 10:09 pm

I started my CPAP trial 8 days ago, after being diagnosed with mild sleep disordered breathing, upper airway resistance and mild hypoxemia. Today was my first follow up appointment.

The RT downloaded the info from the sd card and was thrilled with the results. 100% compliance, AHI less than 2, no major leaks. For me, given that on paper I have extremely mild sleep data, I had been suffering with extreme daytime sleepiness and depression. My first week on CPAP has been amazing. I wake up in the morning well rested, I am awake at work, and my need for naps has dropped considerably. My kiddo says I am more engaged, less of a zombie, and accomplish more in a day than I did in a month before.

I think I am sold on this therapy. If you are struggling with extreme symptoms and have a very mild to near absent sleep study result, go for a trial of cpap anyways. It's so very worth it!

I had similar results early on (after I fiddled with settings). Nearly 6 months in, I'm not as spry, but my attitude has improved some. I feel like I've gotten better sleep too. Expect ups and downs...congrats !
