Re: Can't stop air escaping from my mouth

From looking at my data it looks like I had a pretty good night last night. Still see several leaks, but nothing major. As for moving to a full face mask, I have a F10, but I've never been able to adjust to it. The longest I've ever been able to use it is for 3 days, and then I switched back to pill...

Re: Can't stop air escaping from my mouth

I tried a bigger piece of tape last night, and I think it held better. Now the big issue is that air escaping tends to be loud and wakes my wife up. She in turn wakes me up. I did finally put an SD card in my machine so I have data now. I see several leaks throughout the night. They seem to last abo...

Learn to keep your tongue at the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth. You will not lose any air out your mouth...even if you open your mouth a little.
Hi! Thanks! I did this for years and it worked. It's only recently that this technique has stopped working for me.

Re: Can't stop air escaping from my mouth

Which type and width of tape are you using? Are you cutting it long enough to extend 0.5 inches beyond each corner of your lips? One tip that helps me a lot is to turn the lips in slightly and then place the tape. I think the tape is long enough, though I could try making it a little longer. I use ...

Can't stop air escaping from my mouth

Hello everyone! I have been using my cpap successfully for years now. I have always been majorly slack-jawed when I sleep and always use a chin strap. In the past month the combination of my P10 and a chin strap has stopped working for me. I keep opening my mouth and letting air escape no matter how...

Re: Will tap water damage my machine?

Cardsfan, I live near you, and I have used tap water in two places in the Metro East. It is perfectly fine to use. So far my machine has not suffered any damage. You will have mineral build up in the humidifier chamber, but that is the only issue you'll face. Descale it like you would a water kettle...

Re: Seriously need support

I can understand being emotional about an OSA diagnosis. I was in denial for years, until my wife finally convinced me to get a sleep study. Prior to going on CPAP, I'd fall asleep practically anywhere. When I wasn't napping, I was tired, and my brain was in a serious fog. I had to struggle to remem...

Have you tried the "For her" headgear? It is smaller and might fit better.

Re: Elite 2 SD Card (?) Cannot be removed

LSAT is probably correct. You cannot insert an SD card the wrong way. It simply won't fit. I mean I guess you could, but you'd end up destroying the card in the process and probably damaging the drive as well.

Re: New to CPAP and Switching from FFM to Pillows

I started out with the F10, and quickly moved to the P10 as well. My jaw drops quite easily when I fall asleep, and wear a chin strap to help control that. The chin strap does not prevent my mouth from opening, and some nights I do get larger (but not flagged as large) leaks. However most nights my ...

Re: Airfit P10 Leaking

I have had leaks if the short tubing is pulled up. I can't tell if it is coming from the frame or from the pillows being pulled slightly out of position. My guess is the latter since I can't imagine that just repositioning the hose would fix a leak.

Re: Leak rate OK?

I don't know that it is too high. From the graph you posted it looks like leaks are well controlled for most of the night. Usually (but not always) air leaking out of your mouth will wake you. Large leaks that way are usually loud and somewhat uncomfortable.

Re: FitBit -- worth it?

I have a Fitbit, and just started tracking my sleep with it. The sleep report is not very detailed. It breaks your sleep down into three categories. Awake, Restless, and Asleep. Fitbit uses accelerometers to determine if you are asleep or not. It does a pretty good job but is not 100% accurate. If p...

Re: Can higher pressures mask leaks?

Thanks Palerider. I thought of that, but this was the first time I had seen a leak graph like that. It was also the first time I had experienced a large leak. @Julie, thanks, I did read the thread from the other day, and I appreciate all the suggestions made. But in this case, I was just wondering i...
