Sores on my nose - best options?

Post by MbMinx » Wed Oct 29, 2014 9:00 am

SO my F&P Simplus is working very well I'm down to 2 events a night (give or take) with minimal leakage. Unfortunately, it is doing a number on my nose. The respiratory therapist suggested the Gecko pad, but I'm not sure I want to spend an extra $25 a month if there's another way. I am looking at mask liners, but they may not give me the padding it looks like i need. I see that Pad-a-Cheek makes nose bridge pads, but I have no idea how effective they would be.

What do you guys use? Any suggestions? Anything that I should stay away from?
Thank you.

Have you considered a noseectomy?

I haven't heard any raving positive reviews of that gel pad thing.

I have heard many raving positive reviews of the Padacheek products...YMMV though...there's always an occasional unhappy with results customer but as a whole...most people who use any of her products have been happy campers....myself included but I have not had the occasion to use the product that you would be using.

I see that you are maybe going to be fitted with a different mask..that might work out but if it doesn't you might consider one of Karen's products. Karen is a forum member and PadaCheek is her business. She uses cpap herself so she personally knows how this stuff works.

I had a problem with a sore nose bridge using the Wisp, it was comfortable but I kept pushing it up while sleeping. I switched to the Resmed Activa LT and also experienced sore nose bridge sometimes. I thought about using Gecko and other methods, a long story short, found that I had to find a happy compromise between leaks and tightness. I found that if I loosen the head support straps and let the mask do its thing and I no longer get the sore nose. Maybe in your case the mask might be adjusted too tight. You might want to try different adjustments to see if it helps, its great to have zero unintended leaks but maybe finding a good compromise will help. For the sore nose bridge my DME says to use KY jelly on your nose to help the healing process. Also the stuff is water soluble and will not harm the mask cushion.
