SOLD: Is there a market for this used S9 VPAP Adapt 36037

Post by STL Mark » Sat Oct 18, 2014 4:40 pm

I have access to a used S9 VPAP Adapt from the home of a smoker. They have both dogs and cats in the home. Serial number is from 2013. Would come complete with humidifier, travel bag, power supply, humidifier tank. and Sd card. Has less than 200 hours. Owner and my needs would make it $925 shipped to a U.S. Address. If interested, let me know and I will make an effort to acquire it.

Probably going to be a hard sell unless your a smoker. The smell is next to impossible to get out of the machine, you'd just about have to tear it all down and clean it and replace the foam inside. It would be a big gamble.

speaking with the experience of having desmoked an adapt.. the foam isn't much of a problem, there's only two pieces of foam and a few minutes with some dawn and hot water and it's pretty good, you could go a little further and use something else, vinegar, oxyclean, etc to really clean it.

the problem is the three silicone pieces, they absorb the smoke. the ones I took out of the adapt I cleaned were tar yellow *gross*.

I finally did get the smell out of them, but it took soaking in oxyclean and multiple trips through the dishwasher. the oxyclean actually got the yellow out.

I didn't try boiling in baking soda, but after reading some of the stuff here, I might give that a shot if the situation comes up again.

you can also just swap out the pieces from a cheaper s9 if you have one handy... that's actually what I did, giving my friend who needed the adapt the silicone out of my old elite, then I cleaned up the bits for the elite.

I'd love to get it, but can't bring myself to pay that much for a backup machine for him, at this point.

Several years ago I purchased a S8 Elite from a smoker. I changed the filter and I let it run at an open window for about 4 hours for 3 days. I also sprayed a light mist of Febreeze near the air intake. I then changed the filter again and 90% of the smell was gone. The rest disappeared over the next week or two.
