Problems with sleep mask.

Post by njenkinspa » Sat Oct 18, 2014 1:19 pm

I have been diagnosed with sleep apneA for two years. I have a resmed quatro mask.I have tried others. The mask strap cuts into bk of my kneck, causing bleeding and acne. The nose area leakes on one side causing the air going i to into my eye to be blood shot red. Anyone have this issue any suggestions?

When is the last time you tried the other masks? Some great new full face masks have been released recently. I definitely recommend checking them out.

What kind of pressures are you using and what made you choose a FF mask?

Sounds like it's too tight to me. Or, you have the wrong size mask. Or you have it too tight trying to compensate for the wrong size mask.
You know, you can make strap covers out of material like fleece that will help prevent that. Or, buy some from Pad-a-Cheeks.

I use same mask as you and have pressures from 18-20. I use a Cpap Cap instead of straps to spread the pressure and also use Pad A Cheek strap covers. You may only need one or the other. I use both together. Caps are on Ebay for about $25 . Just search Cpap Cap on Ebay.

Thank you for the suggestions,i have been professionaly fitted for my mask several times. I do have strap covers it seems to be cutting me right in the back where they do not cover. I will take a look into the cap! Thank you everyone for the suggestions and h[GRINNING CAT FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Most of the soft cloth headgear comes on pillows - have you tried any of them? P10 or Nuance come to mind.

Based on some of the stories I've read, that wouldn't be all that reassuring to me.

Learn how to do it yourself.

based on the experiences of others that I've read here, it's highly unlikely that your "professional fitting" is worth the paper it's printed on.

figure it out for yourself, it's almost certain that those 'professionals' main profession is separating you from your money.

It sounds like you may have the individual single strap covers that only go on the sides, to reduce marks on your face. I am referring to the one piece that goes all across the back and also wraps around both sides. No part of the straps touches your skin if they are fitted properly. You may have to trim the ends as they are long.
