AirSense 10 AutoSet or AirSense 10 AutoSet for her?

Post by Wisewoody » Mon Sep 29, 2014 3:10 pm

I am going to purchase a new machine. I want to go with the new ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset. I am a man but am wondering if I should get the "for her" model because it has additional features. I don't see why the "For her" model wouldn't be the better option if it will do more. Am I missing something?

The manufacturer claims the pressure and other algorithms used are sex specific so I do not think it would be a wise move...JMHO

AirSense 10 AutoSet does 2 modes .... CPAP and AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet 4Her does 3 modes ... CPAP, AutoSet, and AutoSet 4Her
AirSense 10 AutoSet 4Her report RERA on all 3 modes, the A10 AutoSet does not

AirSense 10 AutoSet 4Her version makes a lot of sense

The AirSense for Her has a separate apap mode that is supposed to work better with females.
I am betting that somewhere there are men who this mode might help as well.
Better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it....is my general take on these things.
So the "for Her" machine has the regular apap mode that the S9 has that both sexes have been using for ages plus it has this additional apap mode that might come in useful to someone no matter what sex they are...
it's like 3 machines in one where the regular AutoSet is like 2 machines in one.

If the color/design on the cabinet is considered too "unmanly", sport stickers could be applied.

Thanks everyone for the reply's. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a for her only machine. I'm planning to keep my current machine for my traveling machine and a back-up.

You might check Secondwindcpap for an inexpensive machine--or Craig's list.

I think Ralph just buys extra machines and then wants to sell them. I saw him post on another thread that he had one for sale and was wanting so and so for it.
I don't think he is a buyer because he personally is in need of a machine but because he wants to resale them.

Get the 4her and cover it with duct tape to be more manly.

The "4her" mode might be useful for guys, too. To me, it sounds like a "gentler" auto function. Could be more comfortable for guys who have problems with the regular auto.

In the picture it's white with some leaves/vines on it, so you guys can think of it as styled for special forces belly-crawling through the underbrush -- doesn't get more manly than that! And a little strategically placed duct tape can cover over the word "her" as necessary.

i have the airsense autoset and love it. last night our power went out so i couldnt use it. wow. what a difference. grumpy, pissed off attitude with poor sleep. i have to do everything i can to stay positive after nights like that. power is back on and i cant wait to get home and in bed. i need a good night sleep.
i was thinking of the for her model but stayed away because i thought it was different and may have a glitch.
i can say the regular airsense 10 is great.
and there are others with the "for her" and so far the have been happy too.
either way, you cant go wrong.
