CPAP tiredness.
CPAP tiredness.
Hey all, I'm a newbie to this thread... First of all I hope you all are rested and well! ... I got my CPAP about five years ago and went to use it only to find out I was wiped out the next morning! Continued using it for a week straight and stopped! Gave it a chance here and there but not difference! I ramped up my air and still no difference! Shall I not give up? Because I haven't really used it for any longer than 1 week. Does it get better?? I have such bad sleep Apnea and wake up all night long.. gasping for air. I take Meds for sleep because I'm Bi- Polar.... I though Maybe it's because I get into a deep sleep when I use it because of my Meds. Maybe that's what making me so tired in the Morning,??? Help please, I need Answers! Lol.

Exactly what meds are you taking and how long have you been taking them?

Re: CPAP tiredness.
When I first got started I can best describe what I experienced as "I crashed". Don't know if it was the new lack of adrenaline, catching up on lost sleep, or what, but it felt like once I leaned into having non dangerous sleep I couldn't get enough of it - for months. I think of it as a recovery. Untreated sleep apnea takes a toll on the body and brain, and like after any trauma, healing happens over time. I remember the day it changed. One morning I woke up, walked to the door and stuck my head out in the sunshine, and felt like I was ready to enter the day. The fog had lifted and life began its turnaround.
Diligent treatment of sleep apnea can fix the symptoms caused by sleep apnea. That's not saying there aren't other contributors to one's tiredness such as medicine side effect or other medical conditions. I had to deal with more than one contributing factor to my inability to function normally. I couldn't readily fix the other things, but I could fix the breathing issues, so that was my focus. The healthier sleep that gave me boosted my energy enough I felt I could tackle the others. Do what you know. Do what you can do. An all or nothing approach won't move you toward your goal of feeling better. Good luck with things.
