Re: Discouraged
Your post touched my heart as it reminds me of my life several years ago. As much as I did have difficulty adjusting to CPAP life, let me tell you, it became my security blanket. I dreaded nothing more than waking up with an event with my heart pounding and feeling like I couldn't catch my breath. S...

Re: Please Help! Chipmunk cheeks waking me up despite taping mouth shut
Here's an excerpt from what I posted on another thread with someone having similar issues... Once I read someone on here talking about keeping the tongue on the roof of the mouth I was obsessive with training my tongue. Eventually it began to be my natural tongue position whether awake or asleep. Ho...

Re: Getting Used to Nasal Masks
I am one of those who in the early years was unable to keep air from causing chipmunk cheeks or escaping from my mouth. Did all the usual tricks to try to control it because I couldn't stand a mask, either full or nasal, going across the bridge of my nose. Nasal pillows worked well for me except for...

Re: How to keep my mouth open
I'm just co-signing on maybe you are a good candidate for an oral mask as linked above. Have not used one myself but knew someone who did as she was unable to get enough air through her nose due to an anatomical anomaly that couldn't be corrected by the usual ENT surgeries. Craniofacial reconstructi...

Re: I just realized someting this Bright and Sunny morning
The old cover-over-the-head trick comes in handy. Have used it when trying to sleep in a room with others who were still up with lights on. Could help with the awkwardness of traveling and sleeping in a room with people not comfortably familiar. I sleep on the living room couch, and have done this s...

Re: Something wrong with my settings or Hypnic Jerk?
Kinda coming in at the middle of your story, just throwing out there to consider if Periodic Limb Movements could be what you are experiencing as you doze off. If you've had a lab study, were your legs wired and if so, was there any menton of limb movements on the report?

Re: Cannula Irritation of My Nostril
Nasal pillows are not all created equal as to length and angle. Just because one mask isn't working doesn't mean all will be problematic. I have slotted nares. Always was envious when I read a romance novel where the tempestuous beauty would flare her nostrils. After using mostly nasal pillows masks...

Wow! That's the kind of anecdotal evidence that can lead to helping others. Makes me think of Snoredog (RIP) whose tag line was "Someday science will catch up with what I'm saying."

Re: Cap for Daughter
Only used masks without headgear for several years now, but back in the day (prepare yourself for this mental image) I used a pair of pantyhose worn upside down on my head and used the legs as a wrap or cut them off. Also options found in ethnic hair care aisle in nearly every store, usually called ...

Re: Drools whenever I tried to side sleep
The sensation of a drool used to wake me. For a while I used a stretchy loose headband/sportband at the mouth level. Doesn't stop the drool but keeps one from feeling the drool run down the chin.

Re: CPAP makes me cough
Does your cough come with any congestion? Curious how turning off the humidity works out for you. I do best with water in the tank but no heat. I'm one of those users who the warmer the air gets the more sinus drainage, hence coughing. Best wishes in finding a way to make this usable for you.

Oh my, so sorry to hear about your doggie. Our little girl is older and having some issues and we are in dread of when her time with us ends. Hope your new puppy brings you much joy.
