CPAP Machine worked - no tiredness - then tiredness returned

Post by Tupac » Mon Sep 22, 2014 2:47 am

Good day to all from Perth Australia.

I had experienced tiredness for a long, long time.

Have been on depressants for a year or 2 to deal with the constant tiredness, low energy levels and being irritable – did it work, my wife thought so. but i still had low energy levels.

Saw a GP that said i may have sleep apnea. Did the sleep study and diagnosed with sleep apnea. Had the snoring symptoms from my early teens. Did a trial week with the sleep machine and purchased my own machine thereafter.

WOWWWW!!! for the about 3 months on the machine i was a new man. I felt energized and had gale winds in my sails. I loved how i felt. was getting up refreshed. I LOVED THE NEW ME and people at worked noticed the different man i was.

Then, without warning, returned to old way. Thought machine was faulty but all ok ie no record of stop breathing episodes. Told nurse when i first got machine i couldnt talk with it fitted as the air would blow straight out through mouth. Now i can have a conversation with it on – able to control the airflow.

Doctor then diagnosed low testerone and put me on a testerone cream – no change. increased dosage of cream and still no change. Blood pressure is good.

dont know where to now

anyone experienced similar and come out of it a winner?

What machine do you have? If it has full data, we can review some reports and see if things have changed.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Hi, there are so many factors to consider, most of which we know nothing about, though your doctor knows a lot more (about you). Could you please to go User Ctl Panel under the main logo and then click on Profile, fill in the full name and model # of your machine and what type of mask you use, and those will appear automatically when you post, under the notes. What is/are your pressure setting(s)? What other meds if any do you take? Are you using software to track your overnight progress? Is cream 'the' way to go for low T or are there other things to try? Could you have begun mouth breathing when asleep and losing cpap air that way (if you're not using a full face mask)?

i was reading other posts in forums and somewhere along the read came across adjusting your pressures on the RESMED.
well last night i adjusted it from 14.8 to 16 pressure and guess what....WONDERFUL REST so much so this morning i feel fresh!!!

woke up about 4am compared to my normal dragging out of bed at 7ish - had a spring in my step.

its a bit too early to be popping champagne but will monitor how i go for the rest of the week.

strangely i asked the sleep technician on my last visit to increase the pressure and she was giving me all sorts of excuse why not. She said that having 2 events of episodes per night is not unsual - i said i want zero but she wouldnt budge.

Which Resmed do you have - maybe try a range and track your reports on Sleepyhead?
