Sore on the bridge of my nose.

Post by Tango » Sat Sep 20, 2014 7:07 am

I see it coming.......
I have a little red bump that will soon be a sore on the bridge of my nose. I wear an air fit 10. What can I do?
My leak rate has been good.
I love my new airsense 10 but this new sore will be an issue in another night or so.
My DME said I had 30 days to try a new mask. Do they let me keep my old one? I do like the air fit 10 though.
Ahi is always around 3 so I can't wait to get rescan going. Probably a week away from having time to figure that out. But, I can't wait. I keep reading on here and learning more and more. Thx all.

If the sore is where the cushion sits on the bridge of your nose, you might try mask liners... they are good for protecting your face and absorb the facial oils. You should be sure to wash your face really well right before bed to eliminate lotions and skin oils that prevent a good seal, anyway. They are also helpful if you are having trouble with leaks that keep you awake.

Two sources for liners: http://www.padacheek.com and https://www.cpap.com. At cpap.com look for RemZzzs under comfort care. You can also check with your DME for RemZzzzs as many DMEs carry them as well. I tried both and ended up liking the RemZzzs best, but some people prefer the Pad-A-Cheek ones. Many forum users use one or the other of these, others don't use them at all. Everyone is different.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

I also have the same mask and the bridge of my nose is a bit red when I wake up.

I wash my face and put on some moisturizing lotion and it hasn't turned into a sore and usually fades through the day.

mine did that until I figured out that it didn't need to be so tight on the nose. I made the bottom straps very snug and the top ones very loose so that the silicone part just grazed my nose and the hard plastic was no where near it.

Experiment with how loose you can make the top when lying down and the air flow on. it will feel too loose but then with it inflates may make a nice seal like a balloon on your face f the mask fits you correctly. My nose was red for a couple of hours when I thought it had to be closer to my face. Great now

I had a red spot on my nose bridge when I started to use the same mask. I put a strip of 3M medical tape on it at night. My nose (honker! ) eventually got used to the pressure and now I don't have to wear the tape anymore.

I had the same problems with the bridge of my nose (I was using the Mirage Quattro). I switched to the F&P Simplus. It is sooo gentle on the bridge of my nose. It's one of the highest rated masks on our host's website. I know everyone's face is different, but I find this face mask's treatment of the bridge of my nose different from all the others I have tried/used. Read the reviews - there are many comments about how it stopped nose bridge problems. Good luck.

I have been using the F10for the past month. I always have a red and sore nose bridge all morning long. Last night I went back to my Quattro FX to give my nose a break. I like everything about the F10 with the exception of the narrow nose bridge. I also wear the mask tighter on the bottom and loose on the top, but I can't defeat the narrowness of the cushion. I wish it fitted more like the QFX. If this seems to be your problem, you may want to try the QFX. Good mask!

I think the reason the AirFit F10 doesn't leak for me is because the silicone nose bridge is a tiny bit thicker than the equivalent part of the Quattro FX. That being said, I do tend to get a little more nose redness in the morning than with the QFX, tho no serious sores (abscesses) so far. On the plus side, my F10 has lasted three times longer than any of my QFX masks, maybe it's that tiny bit of extra silicone thickness over the nose? That was always the first thing to crap out after three weeks on my QFX.
So, it's hard for me to tell since I've only be using the F10 for two months. Still, I think the Airfit F10 is a far better mask than the QFX, especially in regards to leaks, but that's just my opinion on the matter.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
