Pregnant with sleep apnea?

Post by emmacasting » Fri Sep 19, 2014 3:21 am

Hi,

My name is Emma Furniss and I work for a TV casting company where we specialise in finding people for TV shows.

The series is for Discovery International and is all about unique and unusual pregnancies. As part of this we are looking for lots of different women in different situations to share their pregnancy stories. One of the particular stories we are looking into and would like to follow is that where the mother to be has sleep apnea or Narcolepsy.

We are looking to follow lots of different types of pregnancies that may differ slightly to the norm to see how the mothers to be are coping with their pregnancies and the everyday challenges and extraordinary challenges they are facing. The documentary aims to show some really diverse, uplifting and inspiring stories. Some of the other pregnancy stories we are looking to follow are those where the mother may be deaf, blind, suffering from limb loss, extreme cravings or food intolerances, older pregnancies and restricted height pregnancies.

We are looking for women who are happy to share their pregnancy story , their challenges, and their day to day routines and how they are preparing for the birth of their child. From sharing the news with your loved ones, to medical appointments and baby showers – right up to the big day itself - we want to explore the realities – the highs and lows, the excitement and the inevitable anxieties that being an extraordinary pregnant mum brings, and help you share your pregnancy story.

If you think this might be something which you would be interested in or finding out more about it then please email me at emma@Castinghouse.co.uk or call me on 01908 681 142.

Best,

Emma Furniss

You may want to specify location.

Sounds more to me like you're looking to exploit 'freaks' for a show to get ratings. Sleep apnea is very common, not just in older people or overweight men, etc. and a number of women who gain weight during pregnancy are diagnosed with apnea when pregnant, especially as more women who are older are now having children, and just as often become free of it once they deliver. There is nothing 'unique' or unusual about that and it's nothing especially inspiring, though a truly informative program would help many people, but only if approached in a non-sensational way.

I'm not a fan of "reality" TV either, but the genre does have its fans;
plus a big basket of exploitation, starting with the subjects ("stars"), and ending with the audience.
Fair warning; you have to be really hungry for attention to put yourself on this ride.
--and absolutely no taste in order to watch it.
That being said, it's a free country, but OP hints this is in UK, where the dreck runs nearly as deep as here.

I'd be more interested in a Gerry Springer version, moron cheaters on XPAP. Jim

Sometime these can bring light to conditions not well known by the public though.

MTV's True Life did a segment look at neurofibromitois a condition that affect 1 in 3000 people.
But yet, hardly anyone has ever heard of it.
but sometimes it is just a look at this weirdo.
