Mask disconnect problem

Post by godrunner » Thu Sep 18, 2014 7:25 pm

I have been searching all over the web for an answer to this simple question but just can’t seem to find it. I have a Resmed S9 with a Mirage mask attached to a Climateline hose with a quick disconnect. It is my first mask and is very worn out so. I just got a new Resmed Airfit that has the short hose built right in and it seems that it cannot be connected with the quick connector.
Question: Can the quick connector be removed from the end of the Climateline? Please tell me it can. If not, how do I connect this thing! I have pulled and pushed and pinched and am afraid to get too violent because I don’t want to break it.
Thank you so much for helping! I really need to get on this new mask!

yes, the end of the hose is a flexible material, it fits onto a hard mask adapter, like teh airfit has.

just wiggle the hard plastic quick disconnect out of the end of the hose, might take a bit of gentle persuaion if it's been in there for a long time.

Thank you so much! I got it... it required quite a bit more force than I expected.

Thanks again!

I think the longer they're in, the less they want to let go

it gets even tougher if you have added a few drops of super glue in there to prevent that piece from pulling out of the hose in the middle of the night

LOL

But you would deny any knowledge of such a procedure, right?

Of course. Deny, deny and blame it on the aliens. They're the standard scape goat around here.

There's a trick to easily taking a CPAP hose off of whatever it's connected to. I need to write this up with pictures.

The trick is sort of bend the hose off the connector. Grab the end of the hose in your left hand. Grab the connector in your right hand. Now make a gentle motion like you're trying to snap a pencil in half. One side of the hose end should start to move and you will find that it now slides off easily.

With a ResMed hose, you need to be extra careful to only grasp the rubber end part,
as the tubing is exceptionally fragile. --"I didn't know my own strength!"
