Picked up new machine today

Post by Krelvin » Thu Sep 18, 2014 1:53 pm

DME is about 2200 ft from my house. Went by today to pickup my replacement Bi-Level. Long process to get the machine but I already had a working machine so no big rush. Expected problems and recorded the whole visit, but only had an issue with the Co-Pay which I will get resolved.

Resmed S9 VPAP Auto BiLevel - 36006A
Humidare HSi Heated Humdifier
ClimateLine Tubing for S9 and H5i Climate Control System

As far as I can tell the machine is brand new, but I don't know how to look yet as I have not been able to get the clinician manual for it yet. When I do, I will check the blower hours. Got the Humidifier and the heated hose as well.

I also picked up a new mask. Got the Quattro Air which seemed to fit well in the office. The machine was like almost silent. Tried on several masks including the Simplus which I thought I wanted until I tried it, was unable to get it to stop leaking, the Quattro Air and the Quattro AirFit. I liked the later two, but I think the additional structure of the Air will work better in the long run. Will find out.

All of my previous machines were Phillips Respironics.

I already have the Sleephead software so I will take a look at it for the first time tonight as well.

Thanks for the offer, the copy I requested just arrived after I posted.

It would appear that run hours is the total hours on the machine and you don't need to do anything special to see it. Run time = 0.

Set it up at the house when I got home out in the lIving room at my recliner to check it out, adjust some settings (SmartStart was off, Sleep Quality was on Usage, turned to On). Checked out the new mask, hard to tell until I actually lie down since I don't sleep on my back. I had the humidity turned off while playing.

After about 30mins, turned it off, took the SD card out and loaded it into my notebook which already had SleepyHead loaded and loaded the small amount of data and looked at the info a bit.

Then moved the unit to the bedroom. It is a bit bigger than the previous M-Series unit, but wider not as deep. Added water to the humidity tank, adjusted humidity to lowest setting 60F, tested it quickly...

Ready to use tonight. Will see how it works tonight.

Will clean out the M-Series on Saturday, and package it up. Might possibly set it up by the Recliner to use there occasionally, have a hidden end cap that it would fit into well with power when not using. Will see.

Updated equipment list.

First night went well. Combination of using the new machine and a new mask. I might have actually started using my previous mask which is still fairly new but decided to try the Quattro Air instead.

I did wake a number of times mainly due to the changes, but didn't actually get up. Mask leak seemed to be under control all night.

Which version of SleepyHead are you using? Your pressure lines look like mine did with 0.9.5 version....fixed it with 0.9.6 version.
Meaning those frequent tiny breaks in the pressure line which don't show up as breaks in therapy in the other graphs.
Not a big deal but if you are using 0.9.5 that might explain it and if it bugs you too much 0.9.6 should fix it.

Supposed to be the "latest" 0.96. Didn't seem to be anything newer yet. I just sent a donation in.
Also downloaded the Rescan software but have not installed it yet.

Been using Encore Basic on my older M-Series up to now but switched with the new S9 yesterday.

May be true, but the Sleep Dr is using it, not SleepyHead. If I use what he has, I can see what he will see so that when I have my next visit, I can at least review it and be prepared for the visit to get the most out of it for me.

I'm also a systems analyst and software developer and I like to see how different software packages deal with the same data.

I plan on using SleepyHead as the primary program though. Even then, as I get used to the machine and as things go, I will slowly stop reviewing it except occasionally and before a visit to the PCP. Unlike my previous machine, this one saves detail data for long periods of time instead of just 7 days.

I might give that a shot.

About the only thing that stands out with the current version (minor issue) is that it doesn't remember changes to the UI between runs (Right Sidebar off, Calendar Minimized as examples). Not a big deal. Will be interesting what other changes are made.

Still trying to figure out what all the different graphs are for.

the lack of persistence on those are one of the things I nagged jedimark into fixing.
