Humidifier Water Chamber Question

I previously had a Respironics REMstar M Series CPAP w/Humidifier (and no heated tubing) and recall that the water chamber for the humidifier would get significantly lower after using it a whole night. Now, I have a newer CPAP (I think it might be the Respironics PR System One REMstar Plus CPAP Machine w/Humidifier or something similar - and it has a heated tubing), and it seems like even after using it a full night there is still a lot more distilled water left in the water chamber in the morning. Could this be because of the heated tubing, or something else? Or is it possible the machine might be broken?

While something could be broken other environmental causes are more likely the explanation.
If the humidity in your room is higher, the new system will notice that and use less water.
The new system has additional humidification modes and some of those will use less water.
Check in the morning and see if the bottom of the humidifier tank is warm - if it is then its working.

The amount of water your humidifier uses is based upon the humidity in the room. Depending on where you are located, the humidity is higher part of the year and therefore you will use less water. Also...you do not say what you have the humidifier set at.

PR machines allow you to get maximum humidity and warmth using Classic Mode (if that's what you think you need). Here's how to set it up on all PR S1 machines:

I use the setup clinician's menu on my PR S1, went to System One Humidifier line halfway down the setup list, clicked the thumb wheel and turned the wheel until the LCD display said 'off' (it requires a leap of faith). Click that. Immediately up popped the 'classic mode menu' on the line below - I then selected C3, which is the middle range of humidity. Note: you can later pick a range that suits you thru trial and error, you just have to experiment. Push the button wheel to enter your changes, then rotate the knob to 'exit' and click again.

Just be sure to totally fill up your tank at bedtime and hopefully it will last all night, if not, simply keep a small water bottle full of distilled water near your bedside and top up the tank as necessary. This method uses LOTS of water. It's also great for FFM users who tend to mouth-breathe. You can enter Classic Mode into the search engine at the top of each page... that will produce 37 pages of write-ups and tips. Sorry ResMed owners, it's not available to you!

Mine is only using about 40% of the water at most per night with the heat on and the heated tube set at midrange humidity. Working great!
