CPAP and tonsillitis

Post by David Schoey » Wed Sep 17, 2014 7:15 am

Hi - I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea in 2011. I have been using a CPAP machine from May 2011. I have had 6 separate instances of tonsillitis since I started to use the machine. No instances of tonsillitis from childhood prior to starting using the machine and I am now 51. I am off to the doctors again today as I think I have tonsillitis for a seventh time.
Is this common, or am I just unlucky?

Are you mouth breathing? Because drying out your mouth is a big problem and causes all sorts of bacteria to be very, very happy and active. This is even more of a problem if you use some form of nasal mask because you would also be losing therapy pressure.

Some adults has issues with tonsils and get them removed.
