Data Missing from SD Card - Machine Swapped

Post by tortoisegirl » Mon Sep 15, 2014 6:38 pm

I got my Resmed S9 Autoset blower swapped out, hoping it would fix the noise that started a few weeks after starting CPAP. It didn't. I guess that is just how noisy the setup is, but I still swear the first few weeks my husband and I could barely hear it, and the last few months it has a loud noise of amplified breathing. But even when I hold my breath you can clearly hear something. The blower without the hose & mask on is completely silent. I may have to try a different mask, maybe the F10.

Now on to the issue. Even though they put the same SD card back into the new machine, when I uploaded to Sleepyhead, it doesn't show any data from between when I had last uploaded it and when I got the new blower. Unfortunately I hadn't uploaded data in about a month, as the screen data had been sufficient. It does have data from the last few days since the swap, so that is working fine.

Is there anything different I need to do or select, or is that data somehow lost? Did the tech somehow clear my SD card? Sleepyhead skips over those days on the calendar and the charts in overview tab have nothing for those days, if that helps anything (ie. all data is missing, not just detailed data). Thankfully my insurance bought my machine after a month so I won't have a compliance data issue. It is more of an annoyance/oddity as I was under the impression the data should be seamless when the same SD card is used. Thanks! Best wishes.

Unlike Respironics System One machines, ResMed machines seem able to only store data from the current machine.
Likely what happened is that the DME inserted the card and got the need to format the card message and proceeded.
The new blower has no data - its new, so nothing got recorded. Just a guess.

If someone with direct S9 experience of moving a card from one machine to another and retaining data from both could also address this issue.

You are correct. The new S9 wouldn't have liked having the old S9's data on that SD card and would have erased any prior data before accepting the new SD card.
The PR S1 machines don't care but the S9 machines care.

the only answer is to upload it to Sleepyhead before putting it in another machine.

Also you can either copy to another SD card or to a directory on the HD so you can make a copy of the SD later but yea having it in SH can also be helpful. Better yet Make a copy of the SD to a directory whenever you do upload to SH if it is that important.

Is this another reason not to go Resmed?

If I would have known, I would have just uploaded the data to Sleepyhead at least ahead of time. Also, the tech made a point to tell me that my SD card was swapped into the machine, so I assumed it meant something. Good thing I don't need to show compliance! Thanks for the replies. Best wishes.

Back in my working days, when I was a computer programmer, on the very, very rare occasions when data was lost, I'd ask myself, "In 10 years, is anyone going to give a S###?" (pardon my French), if the answer was no, I didn't worry too much about it
