Advice for new Cpap machine

Post by Plutoqueen » Mon Sep 15, 2014 11:16 am

My Cpap machine with humidity chamber needs to be replaced. My insurance has two choices:
1. Resmed S9
2. Responics 560

Which one is better? Any advice?

Which ResMed S9 machine model? There are probably 13 different models.
The S9 Autoset would be comparable to the PR System on model 560.
Check out RobySue's post in this thread where she talks about the differences between the 2 main players.

There are minor pros and cons with either brand when comparing the S9 AutoSet to the PR S1 model 560...none are deal breakers or deal makers though.
If your pressure needs are in the teens then I would suggest the S9 AutoSet as I think its form of exhale relief might be more comfortable for some people but the PR S1 AFlex exhale relief is pretty darn nice.
I have used both brands....it's a toss up.
Most people haven't had a chance to actually try both machines though. So they will tell you about the machine they are happy with.

ResMed now has a newly released model so the S9 will be history.

It's so new that we really don't have many people using it now to offer much feed back.
If it were me and I was leaning towards ResMed....I would want the AirSense AutoSet for Her because it has an additional apap mode that might come in handy.

I pick up my new resmed airsense 10 Autoset with heated hose.
Can't wait.
However, I have lost 35 pounds and eat totally different than I did when I had my sleep study 5 plus years ago.
I think I should request a new one.

Additional Comments: I couldn't find the humidifier I use. I think it's climate control by resmed

If you camp or otherwise need to use a cpap on 12V battery power I would go with Respironics. The Resmeds require a proprietary 24V DC-DC converter that costs $100. The DC cord for Respironics is $30.
