Airfit full face mask for her

Post by jannimay » Sun Aug 31, 2014 8:15 pm

Is any other woman out there struggling with this particular product? So unlike my previous ResMed mask I was looking forward to wearing one which didn't leave train track on my face for hours after waking. I find the head gear difficult to adjust, particularly if this has to be done during the night as it is leaking air into my eyes. Unlike previous masks the airfit sits below my lower lip as opposed to just on my chin, enabling my mouth to fall open when relaxed and consequently making the fit unstable so it leaks air around my chin. The airvent on the airfit which on other makes projects outwards (towards my partner!), projects down and as a blows cold air onto my arms and hands. Am I doing something wrong? I have used a cpap machine for over 5 years and have never struddled with the full face masks before. Thank you for your comments.

The first one I got was the wrong size and slid around I looked online at the fitting instructions and it has a diagram that shows the center of your eyes for the top and the place between your lower lip and your chin where it is like a horizontal valley for the bottom The first one was too much on my chin and a smaller one fit right in that impression so it can't ride up or down as long as it isn't too loose.

A chin strap might help, but I'd suggest going for a different size first.. check online for the fitting instructions to get an idea. As for strap marks, you could try strap pads. I have the AirFit F10 which I think is the same as yours but not the For Her model. I have the regular one, and those rigid cheek arms left lines on one cheek... I got some strap pads from http://www.padacheek.com to put on them and they helped. I see you are in England so maybe there is a source for strap pads, or strap guards as some people say, in your own country that you could have in your hands sooner than from the US East Coast.

I was fitted with a size medium cushion, which I tried one night. The mask, riding in the valley of my chin, sat on my face in such a way that any mouth or facial movement caused leaks. The second night I bumped up to a large cushion. It rides on my chin, thus bypassing the changes in my face during the night. Voila, no more leaks!

Mine was the medium sat in my chin. If I opened my mouth the mask slipped. I needed to go to a small even though I have a rather large face. The fit for me matches the sheet I found when I went to the mfg website
Good luck. It's earlier I find jeans to fit and finding perfect jeans is a challenge. Still looking for the jeans
Also I may be mistaken but the only thing that looked different with hers vs regular is the color. The DME only had hers in small and fits the M as unisex

I think the other difference besides strap color is that For Her also comes in a XS size.
