I've been using my Cpap machine for several years and it works very well. I also deal with airborne allergens so I came up with the idea
using a HEPA filter instead of the stock filter knowing that the manufacturer would not recommend this plan of attack. As a tinkerer
it was very easy for me to take a piece of HEPA media cut it to the right size and put in in place of the stock filter. I woke up less congested
and my Deviated Septum ( right nostril ) is always restricted. When I woke up it flowed better than the left nostril! The way I look at it if I can breath cleaner air 1/3
of the time it would be beneficial.

Both Respironics and ResMed make the equivalent of HEPA filters for their machines. Its the white one that goes in behind the grey one. I don't know what other manufacturers provide. Do you think that the one you made does a better job than the white manufacturer's one? If so, could you provide a source of the material you used?

It would help others if you would register your equipment so they could see what type you are using.
There is a link in my signature block on how to do it.

Thank you for the comment on HEPA filters.

Be careful not to "starve" the machine with a filter that could reduce air flow and is not made for the machine!

Ive experienced that sometimes using the optional white filter along with the grey one cuts the air flow a bit. but I do know thats how they work.

if you're guessing 'flow' based on what blows out the hose without the mask attached, that's irrelevant.

all that matters is the performance under pressure.

They are designed to use those filters so the operation is correct, not so for home rolled solutions. Jim
