Need a new machine

Post by ilan » Fri Aug 29, 2014 11:20 am

Hi,
I've been using cpap for a few years. my current cpap machine (PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex) is making strange noises so I've decided to get a new one. My insurance will pay for any machine I'd like so I'd like to ask you, what's the best machines out there? (I've used resmed machines before and I like both the philips and resmed).

Thanks

The current model like you have in the Respironics line would be the 60 series model with the optional heated hose
The PR System One 60 Series Auto Cpap with AFlex model 560

The equivalent in the ResMed line is the S9 Autoset
but ResMed has just recently released their new AirSense model line. You might find it interesting.

If it were me....these are the only brands I would consider.

Information on the new AirSense in this thread

So far I know of only one forum member who just got this new model.
SleepyHead not yet compatible with it but ResScan is compatible in the latest 5.1 version.

In reading the posts about the importance of having a backup machine, I'm interested in getting one. What do I need to look for in used equipment? I read about checking hours of use and obvious wear and tear but is there anything else to key in on? I found a ResMed S9 AutoSet purchased this year with '3 month's usage' being offered for $450. I'm asking follow up questions like if it is still under warranty, where it was originally purchased and of course the hours of use recorded on the machine. It sounds like a good deal to me but what do you think? I'm currently using a PR S1 560, would I be better off looking for another PR machine or does that matter? edited: I found a PR model just like mine for $350. I'm checking availability for both.

thanks,
d
