Yeah for me :)

Post by PatW » Wed Aug 27, 2014 5:13 pm

I slept with the CPAP on all night last night. This was the first time since I received the machine last Tuesday. Of course, I slept sitting up in the recliner all night but at least I was able to sleep and only woke up once and used the bathroom while I was awake and was able to get back to sleep pretty quickly.

Then I called Lincare's billing office and gave them a piece of my mind about their customer service, or the lack thereof.
So, this CPAP set up is going to cost a total of $1458.24. Sure hope it proves beneficial. I had to pin them down and be a little nasty to find out the specifics from them. We also discussed the fact that they have my account all messed up, that is what set me off. They haven't updated my account and I've been telling them since April that I was changing coverage to BCBS as of May. So, they have never billed me for the past 4 months and I told her I had no idea when they would get the money and it would have been nice if they had told me when I changed insurance that the price had changed. They are INEPT, just as the people who work for the insurance company, they couldn't give me the specifics of what my coverage is either. I still don't really know what the compliance is. All he told me when I was given the machine was at least 4 hrs average per day.

Great that you could use your system all night!!
Keep up the good work.
Compliance for most insurance companies is 70% or the time for 30 days, the system is used for at least 4 hours.
So in simplest terms - 21 of the 30 days it is used at least 4 hours.
Doing business with Lincare billing really sucks!

Here are some helpful things to do:

1. Get a copy of your sleep study and your sleep titration study. They have interesting information that will help in understanding your therapy

2. Get a copy of your prescription for your own records. It will be necessary if you choose to change DME's or order online

3. Post your equipment. There is a link on how to do this in my signature block below. Please select TEXT as a display choice as many CPAP machines and masks appear similar but are significantly different

4. If you need to post images of your reports, there is a link in my signature block on how to post using PhotoBucket.com

5. While the LCD display is somewhat useful, it is better to use one of the reporting software programs to get detailed information on your therapy. The two available for Respironics machines are: Encore (Basic or Pro) and SleepyHead.
If you have a ResMed machine, the SleepyHead and ResScan are the programs of choice.

Thanks JDS I have done all of your first 3 suggestions already...but you're copying and pasting some of your usual good advice LOL

I have downloaded and installed the ResScan software but have not taken the card out of my machine yet to upload it. I might do that in a little while.

When you do, remember to slide the little read only switch. If your computer decides to write anything to the card, your CPAP won't like it. Of course, when you're done, slide it back.

Keep up the great sleep!

Yes, I did remember to lock and unlock the SD Card. Now I'm going to try to set up the reports to capture and share with you.

Congratulations on getting the image posted.
The AHI looks really good!
If this keeps up for a week or so and the OSA events keep about the same, you might consider increasing the pressure just little - not much. But with these numbers, staying the course for a week would be a good thing.
Nothing jumps out to say change is immediately needed.

Cheers.

Thanks. Unfortunately I won't be able to change anything. The DME has this thing locked up tight so I can't change anything except for the ramp time and the temp on the humidifier. And I'm assuming it'll stay that way for the 10 months of the rental period, unless the doctor requests a change.

Now I am not suggesting that anything needs changing but everyone should know how their machine works.
That "lock" isn't a lock at all...just a little secret code to get into the clinical setup menu. All S9 machines use the same code.
You might watch this video when you have time

and take peek at the pdf manual

Doing better....actually slept all night in the bed last night instead of the recliner. Had to get up to use the bathroom once or twice but other than that I slept pretty soundly and only remember rolling over a few times all night.

excellent... now to get sleepyhead, and read your data, and see if there's anything that shouts out "FIX ME"
