Resmed S9 Autoset Acting Up

Post by MaxDarkside » Thu Aug 21, 2014 6:38 pm

Hmmm.... for the last few nights my Resmed S9 Autoset said I had a usage of 5.8 hours when I know I slept longer than that. Then this evening I check the display and it should say 0.0 hours since it is past noon, but lo and behold, it said 5.8 hrs still. So I reboot the machine (disconnect power, wait, replug-in) and the display said 0.0 hours correctly, but the mask-fit icon was a frowny face.

Anyone experience this before? Maybe I should take it into the shop for an oil change

At first I thought it said last data Aug 6th, but I re-imported and it has data for last night at 6 hrs 33 min, which is about right and the start / end time are right. AHI 0.21 (nice!)

I've heard people say that the s9's will get stuck and report strange things, I haven't experienced it, and so don't know if it's just reporting it on the screen that's bad, or it's saving bad data, or what, but a power cycle usually clears it up from what i've heard.

I almost never look at the screen on mine, I just pop the sd card in and look at the data on sleepyhead

Must have been aliens, as after power down/power up it seems to be fine. My main curiosity in posting and taking up bandwidth was if others have seen this behavior before and if it means anything.

Thanks.

I've noticed mine acting funky, too, leaving off the flow chart in SH, for one.
It seems to correct after a cold reset, but I am toying with getting Medicare to spring
for a new Airsense 10 Autoset for her (me)
Just sitting by the pool, waiting for somebody else to jump in first.

Ya, my Resmed says the data card is funky, but Windows says its fine. Every time I reboot the Resmed it says my card is corrupt and needs to be wiped. I should go see if it recorded the detail stuff last night... yup, it did.

what kind of windows do you have?

if it's 8.1, it craps little files on the card that the S9 doesn't like.

be sure to lock the card before putting it in the windows machine.

Max, what version of Windows do you have?
I had that problem on hubby's 8.1 desktop, but it's never happened on my 8.0 netbook.
There has been some discussion on MS' foolishness--just between versions.
One reason why I REFUSE to "upgrade" my netbook.

I have Win 8.0 on this computer. I wouldn't be surprised, and now that you mention it, it was around the time I got these Win 8 computers the Resmed started barking. Yes, I know you said Win 8.1 but... hummmm...

Windows 8.xxx seems to be a primary suspect for the "invalid card" thing but I had it happen when I put my files back onto my SD card (had made a copy so that I could erase the card and use it temporarily for something else) and one file got out of order. I looked at it and wondered if the S9 would spit it out and it sure did. Otherwise it was an exact copy except for the file structure with 2 files swapping positions. I use Windows 7 so I know it wasn't the OS.

Also Mon and Tues of this week my S9 didn't write any data to the SD card and I know the card was in the machine. I never look at the on screen data so I don't know about that aspect of things. Now maybe I didn't have it fully inserted which could be a possibility and I can't swear that I for sure had it stuck in there completely but normally when I put the SD card back in the S9 I watch to make sure the machine recognizes the SD card. Anyhow I did the unplug thing just as a precaution because I had 4 nights in a row with AHI of 0.0 and that's not normal for me. Data seems fine now. SH doesn't give me any graphs for Monday and Tuesday which wasn't unexpected. I do have summary data now though on SH for those nights instead of big goose eggs for use.

I think sometimes the machine's firmware just gets cobwebs in it for some reason...or the aliens are playing around again.

Yeah...the told me about the fun they had with that guy and secondary fun watching you all scratch your heads wondering what happened. They are sick little dudes for sure. Perverts too I think.
