A video for those who think their CPAP gear is a PITA!
An incredible video you gotta see to believe it and even then you may not believe it. The video's CPAP subject starts to look a little terrified towards the end of the setup procedure - it's not hard to understand why. I guess this is supposed to be a commercial product but you'll have to judge that for yourself:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I know... my brain is totally refusing to process this. It's as if Pugsy's aliens landed a UFO in my front yard. All I can do is stand there and stare.
It's gotta be a joke but it looks so professionally set up, even the gear looks totally manufactured. Who'd spend that much time doing that much work simply to pull a prank on such a small target audience (I mean were just CPAP users) Still standing there staring with a little drool coming out of the corner of my mouth

Yeah, but did you note the 'under the arm straps'? Now that's what I call heavy duty CPAP. My wife said it's like a mini 'bubble boy' from the classic Seinfeld episode. I'd certainly checked out that anti-asphyxia valve because you're essentially putting your head in a garment bag all night long.palerider wrote:hey, you gotta admit though, no nose irritation, no mouth breathing issues... no chin strap...

No practical application... except for perhaps a burn patient, but I imagine if s/he's got burns significant enough to need zero skin contact, there are far more pressing respiratory concerns than the apnea...palerider wrote:hey, you gotta admit though, no nose irritation, no mouth breathing issues... no chin strap...

a bit of googling came up with pediatric applications for young kids who can't/won't tolerate the pressure of a mask on the face.RicaLynn wrote:No practical application... except for perhaps a burn patient, but I imagine if s/he's got burns significant enough to need zero skin contact, there are far more pressing respiratory concerns than the apnea...palerider wrote:hey, you gotta admit though, no nose irritation, no mouth breathing issues... no chin strap...
I just can't find a price on that... I could go scuba diving!!!

The practical applications include:
CASTAR "R" is a single-patient device for treatment of respiratory failure:
• Cardiogenic pulmonary edema
• Non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema (A.L.I - ARDS)
• Thoracic trauma
• Atelectasis
• Post-operative hypoaxemia
• ASTHMA
• COPD exacerbation
• Pre- and post- extubation respiratory support
Give the fact that intubation increases your risk of mortality, I think this is a great alternative.
So far I can breathe fine during the day and only need a little help while sleeping. Should that change this may be worth looking into.

well, there probably are a few gallons of air moving through there every minute. why should it be a concern?chunkyfrog wrote:Is no one concerned about CO2 poisoning?

That's what the big ol' "anti-asphyxiation port" is for I believe - just like the vents on our masks.chunkyfrog wrote:Is no one concerned about CO2 poisoning?

No Froggie, this is simply Enhanced Expiratory Rebreathing Space (EERS).chunkyfrog wrote:Is no one concerned about CO2 poisoning?
