Any experience with L-Theanine?

Post by Christine L » Wed Aug 20, 2014 6:49 am

My AHI is usually around 1.0 with a good leak line and I seem to sleep well most nights. The problem is going to bed at 11 pm tired and sleepy and then some nights it takes an hour to fall asleep. This is not really a big deal because I feel well the next morning but I would like to fall asleep quicker.

A lady at work says she takes 200 mg L-Theanine an hour before bed and it helps her relax and fall asleep quickly.

Any experience with this?

(I don't want to do the tea thing because I brush my teeth after dinner and don't want anything else on them.)

Thanks.

I can find you 1,000 ladies at work, uncles at church and friends at school, all of which have fave meds and stories, half of which are unproven or not made for your body. Why not google this one, look at indications and side effects, and see what you think of it?

Hi Christine L,

As one who has not had good success with supplements and meds for sleep issues, you will probably think my response is biased but that is ok. If you feel your sleep is fine other than it taking an hour to fall asleep, why not just get a collection of your favorite podcasts and listen to those? And for all you know, it might lead to a shortened sleep onset time.

I don't know, it just sounds like you are doing generally well other than taking an hour to fall asleep and as a result, before resorting to something like theanine, I would try something like my suggestion. But obviously, I am not experiencing what you are goign through so I have to keep that in mind.

Every time you ask a question of people with experience, you get answers from people who have no experience.

Well, since I have tried a "million" supplements other than L-Theanine, do I semi qualify as one with experience? All jokes aside, point well taken.

I've tried L-Theanine 200mg QD, I've never had a supplement make me feel like such a retarded zombie. That one went in the trash after only two days.

Oh good, someone who has actually tried it.

Were you taking it at bedtime? Did the zombie effect last into daylight? Were you already using CPAP?

Sorry for so many questions.
