my cat bites my cpap tubing "HELP"

Post by karenlorrainerichardson@yahoo.com » Mon Aug 18, 2014 7:24 pm

I need some help. My cat has destroyed my CPAP tubing. Sending him away is not an option. Does anyone else have problems with cats damaging the tubing? I have a tube protector and it sorta works ok but it's the tubing from the mask that is a victim.

Please any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Padacheek makes a hose cozy for the short hose as well as the long hose.
Or you can make your own with a couple of layers of some fleece material.

Having the same issue myself at the moment. I've ordered a hose cozy, but I've also looked into a cable cover at the office supply store. It's rigid plastic to hopefully eliminate any punctures

I have heard that sprinkling some hot chile powder on anything that should not go in a mouth, can work wonders, at least on the second hose.

Cats hate citrus. Rub orange peel on the hose?

If its not too stressful for your cat, perhaps a travel enclosure for nights might work.
Putting everything away during the daytime would solve the rest of it.

is your cat chewing on it while you're asleep, or during the day?

if when you're asleep, maybe the cat think's it's somethig attacking you, and if you let the cat get used to it being something you want, cat may quit attacking the monster

I'm not sure rigid plastic to cover the hose is a good idea as the hose needs to move with you when you sleep and it would make twisting and turning difficult, I should think. During the day you can always put the hose and mask in a drawer.

The cover I'm looking into is spiral cut and flexible due to this, but more protective to the outside of the tubing. I'm also looking into hanging the tubing over my headboard to remove the temptation from my mattress, as this particular kitty is a cuddler.

The hose covers from Padacheek are quite thick, with a liner and fleece, plus made really well and easy to put on the hose. I'm quite happy with mine, although it does add significant weight to the hose. I'd think that would help some, especially if the cat's claws are kept clipped. If its while you are away at work during the day or whatever, its probably easier / safer to just put the hose away in a container though. Best wishes.

Oh now see, that would have been the smart thing to do, applying it to the cat. I chose instead to attempt to patch the hose...
