What mask to use?
How do the doctors decide which mask to use, i tink i might have cpap, but will i need a full face? or nasal. How is a desicion made? and what does it feel like to wear these things, i underwent surgery two years ago and had to wear a oxygen mask for a few days afterward, will it feel like that? My mom has started to look into different treatments and suggested the new cpap, the one w/ the teeth thing? I tried one on in dr.s office, and its...weird.. i dont know,

Cpap Masks
Time for you to go to school. Masks covering just the nose are most popular by far. Full face masks can be helpful when it is not practical to breath thru the nose. I sugges you start by looking at the mask videos at https://www.cpap.com/listVideos.php?VGID=ALL
There is a light pressure on a cpap mask so it a bit different than an oxygen mask.
The cpappro mask usies teeth to provide support of the mask instead of straps. There are issues when trying to sleep with a bit block in your mouth. Look before you leap.

which mask to use
The CPAPPRO is like a dental nightguard that people get when they clench and grind their teeth. It snaps on to the teeth

Mask Type
So Jen, sounds like you went to the doctor? What did he say and when will you get a sleep study done, since you were asking about masks?
Sounds great, the sleep study will determine the type of mask, and the fitting is tricky, you will need to be comfortable (easier said than done).
So how is mom doing with this? Glad you talked with her about Sleep Apnea.

Moms' doing ok w/ it, thought it was a little odd @ first about the whole mask thing, and I had my sleep study done the other night, that was innerving, I couldnt even believe I slept lol. Anyway I have been put on a machine, little weird at first, still not sleeping great, and Im kind of weirded out by the thought of having friends over while I wear this, just not sure yet.
I am on a Fisher and Paykel HC431 Full Face Mask hope to hear from you soon Apnatic

Machine
What type of machine do you have, and how is it going with sleeping with the mask...and I doubt your friends will see you with your mask on, and if they do, it is no different than people wearing glasses to see.

not sure on the model, I havent really looked at it, im not into it, thats my parents job lol. Anyway sleeping with the mask, is not really that much of an adjustmant. I spent a while in the hospital once and was on a mask so... its not that hard. Im not sure on one thing tho, if i toss and turn, could the tubing strangle me, I dunno, Ive heard that happens or sumthing.
