Traveling with CPAP to Europe: tips?

Post by Zidane » Wed May 06, 2015 10:15 am

I am headed to Europe 2x in the coming months, and I'm wondering what tips you travel veterans might have? I'll specifically be using a Resmed Airsense 10 with heated humidifier.

For example, what can I do if I don't have distilled water for my humidifier?
While I won't be sleeping with the CPAP on the flight (impossible for me to do so), what tips do you have for setting up the CPAP either in a hotel or private residence?

On and on.. Those types of questions!
Sleep, Sleep, Sleep... Where did you go? Did I ever know you?

Bottled water is OK, but not mineral water.

Your machine will do just fine on 220v electricity. But you'll probably need a plug adapter.

Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Deionized water is fine, distilled water ir quite rare. Voltage will be fine, you'll need a plug adapter too. Otherwise very easy to manage.

If flying, NEVER CHECK IT! Carry-on only, and don't let it out of your sight.

Take an extension cord.
I carry my machine onto the airplane with 4 litres of distilled water and a doctors note that says I must travel with 4 litres of distilled water. Airport Security always opens the bag, finds the water, reads the note and lets me pass.
