Exciting News! No machine yet, but hey! Soon! Really!

Post by AnnePandora » Wed May 06, 2015 9:21 am

I've been lurking here, getting a lot of information, checking the temperature of the board, for weeks now, AND

I still do not have my machine, so won't be posting information as to what it is.

But I'm so excited! My titration study was on March 11, and for weeks and weeks I've been calling the sleep study office, trying to see when my results would be available.

(Apparently a couple of doctors left, they were overwhelmed, etc etc.)

Last week I was told that my results existed! Yay! But that the doctor hadn't entered them into the system. Ok!

Yesterday the office apparently got another doctor to sign off on them, and so the results are being sent to the machine distributing place.

So, they tell me, it should be only another couple of weeks.

And then. I will be one of you all, officially.

And ask you bunches of questions about how to make things work.

Cheers, Anne

I'm in the boat as you are waiting to get a machine. However, wow, that would concern me with all that turnover at the sleep doctor place. Be sure to get a copy of your sleep and titration study as well as your OWN copy of the prescription. That gives you the option not only to go elsewhere, but also so that your results aren't accidentally lost, as often happens. I've been there, done that with other issues. Currently, they are trying to find my digitizations of a cat scan done last year. Apparently, the person who can find them is on vacation, but it begs the question - why only one person in a UNIVERSITY medical records library is the only one who can find my records? Perhaps it's just that I'm not needing it on an emergency basis. Anyway, good luck! Make sure you get the machine YOU want!

Waiting 2 months for your results is disgusting. Many people get their results and machine within a week or two. I would be mad as hell with that doctor's office. Go in and DEMAND a copy of the results and a prescription for a CPAP. Then go wherever your insurance will allow for a machine.

Welcome. Good luck.

Be sure to get a good, fully data capable machine. There's a lot of info in the Useful Links in my signature line at the bottom of this post.

I demanded that they FAX me a copy of my prescription. I didn't have to waste gas, and CPAP.com accepted it, no problem. It's an option, anyhow.

Anne,

What I came across is not all DMEs stock equipment. The one I started with was going to have to order everything. I wound up with one that had them in stock and could provide me everything I needed in minutes and not weeks.

Its not uncommon to have to go through more than one mask before you find one that you really like. When a DME doesn't stock them, that makes that experience very difficult.

You are quite lively, PaleRider, as you know!

Thank you all -- I knew I would get some nice outrage, and that was very satisfying.

I take all your suggestions as to machines and dealing with the docs and machine-providers very seriously.

cheers, Anne
