New guy here- hello all

Post by Patrick Bateman » Tue May 05, 2015 8:26 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the cpap world, having recently been diagnosed with OSA, and on about day 10 of my life with a cpap device.

I still suffer from extreme fatigue, memory loss and brain fog for about 80% of the day. At times it forces me to stop working and limits me from exercising, which is what prompted my PCP to send me off for a sleep test since I'm fairly young and in shape, with no previous health issues.

My sleep test results were 59 wake ups in 1 hour, and 17 apneas, with the longest of 20 seconds. My 2nd test with a cpap resulted in 0 sleep interruptions.

A friend of mine who also has OSA, said after 1 night with a cpap his fatigue and brain fog went away completely. I'm on day 10 and haven't seen any improvement at all.

A question that I'm sure have been asked 100x already on this forum-

I'm sure this varies by each case, but how long does it take for brain fog, fatigue and short term memory loss to go away?

My stats so far with the cpap device are 1.3 AHI, average about 8.1 hrs of sleep, 5.0 cmH2O, 27 I/min (not sure what this means, but it has a mask icon next to it)

Thanks in advance to all for your advice. Looking forward to getting started here, and am eager to learn from everyone.

PB.

Welcome to the forum.. work out all your therapy issues here...

Every one is different on when they start to feel better. I was diagnosed severe with 140 AHI and was feeling like I was dying.
I was stupid and did nothing and allowed it to go on years.

I am one of the lucky ones who felt better immediately. Now 2 years in I notice that I still have improvements month over month.

I wish you well...
