bed pillow question

Post by zeak » Tue May 05, 2015 1:34 pm

Hi all. I am trying to find a good bed pillow to minimize air leaks and dislodging my cpap. I know there's a lot of personal preference when it comes to finding the right pillow, but thought that it would to see what works for people with similar equipment and body habitus. I am 5'8", 155lbs and slee mainly on my side, often flipping from one side to the other during the night. i use a nasal pillow system. On cpap.com, the biggest sellers are: double edge pillow, sleepap pillow, cpapmax pillow and cpapfit buckwheat. I've tried memory foam pillows in the past before starting cpap and didn't really like them . I currently use a feather pillow which i find comfortable but have to sleep on the edge so my nasal pillow doesnt get dislodged.

any help re bed pillows would be much appreciated. thanks.

Hi there,
I am a side sleeper too and flip from side to side. BEST PILLOW ever I have found is MY PILLOW. go to MYPILLOW.COM and check them out. They are washable and you can re-fluff them in the dryer. They are made in the USA too.

good luck!

Thanks! I'll check it out.

update: I looked up mypillow.com. It looks interesting but there are almost as many virulent criticisms as there are positive reviews. People talk about it being a ripoff and infomercial scam. The other pillows seem to have more measured reviews. Anybody care to share thoughts on the other pillows mentioned above?

If you like a firm pillow that you can shape to your head/neck...try the buckwheat hull pillow.

Personally, I prefer down and feathers; but at my size, catching waterfowl is difficult at best.

I like the idea of the buckwheat pillow but am curious what people think about the ones made specifically for cpap users with cutouts to minimize mask disruption. Mypillow and the buckwheat are both rectangular.

My problem with the special pillow was that it was too high. With the buckwheat, I added/subtracted hulls until I found my sweet spot.
And I just move the hulls around to create a spot for my mask when I sleep on my side. I have the sleep pillow from Pur-Sleep.com, as well as a papcap. It took awhile, but I'm a happy camper. Good luck, Earl
