When I tried googling this problem I did find someone claiming Respironics does not have a Mask Fit like that but found nobody who used it. When I searched the forum I was relieved to find more knowledgable people know about and actually use it. For those that do not know (unless I am the only one who did not know) once "Mask fit" is enabled in the setup menu, pushing the ramp button will activate a mask fit feature before going into its normal routine.
The problem I have is more a minor irritation than anything so I could learn to live with it if needed. For some reason the 40 second mask fit shows up on the SleepyHead graph quite different. SH shows a ramp slowly declining over a spread of 7 to 10 minutes which is not horrible to put up with but I would like to correct it if possible. Does this happen to others using mask fit in a similar manner? Is there an easy way to fix it?
I realize it would be simple enough to start the session over once the seal is determined or to go back to doing a quick test with the brick before hooking up to the machine but I kind of like just tapping the ramp button to begin. Sometimes I am settled in and drifting off before the 40 seconds is up. Living without the first 10 minutes of data seems preferable to me than the alternatives I have already tried.

Only thing that I would know to do would be to stop the machine briefly after the mack fit check has been done and then start it again (this will start a new session) and change the setting in SleepyHead so that it omits short sessions then you won't be seeing that portion where the mask fit feature is doing its thing.
Did you know about the feature in SleepyHead where you can omit short sessions and you get to determine the length?
I have mine set to ignore sessions that are 10 minutes or less.

Yes, thank you! I may start doing it that way if this is normal behavior. I was wondering if it even is normal behavior or whether I had a problem with my machine communicating with SH. I may try with a different computer and different machine once I get all my more pressing needs addressed.Pugsy wrote:Only thing that I would know to do would be to stop the machine briefly after the mack fit check has been done and then start it again (this will start a new session) and change the setting in SleepyHead so that it omits short sessions then you won't be seeing that portion where the mask fit feature is doing its thing.

I don't know about the normal behavior part because I have never used the mask fit feature (don't need to) but the graph looks like what I would expect it to except it seems to last longer than I would have thought it would last.
It's real easy to omit though...just start a new session with a quick off/on click of the button and then let SH ignore that brief first session which is the mask fit.
